Same, seems a big technical glitch. Maybe they're updating the comments section, or perhaps eliminating it?

Amara, they have turned off the comments on hubs. This is not a temporary error. See this:

Were you a newbie? The comments button was phased out years ago. It'll soon be back. Don't you read that lately?

It looks like this is the result of allowing comments on AxleAddict….now we can’t comment on anything else! Worse still the comments sections are GONE. Thank you for nothing HubPages.

I feel like they are creating walls within our community. It's discouraging! Many of us are here because of the love and support of our wonderful community.

According to what I read...comment section is hone and we must pull up each article individually to leave a comment.

Worse yet, article must be on network site.  Does that mean Niche site??

If it does...it's gonna kill many of our Series that don't go to Niche sites.

At this point. .I don't know what to do about Word Prompt Series.

We all enjoy commenting & they are determined to stop us from talking to one another.

No comments allowed until picked up by network site.

This is totally awful...in my opinion.

They've done away with the comment button.
Now we can't comment until article is on network site.

      This is beyond bad.

It's already hard enough to make comments on people's works here on Hubpages...nothing like the old days of Hubpages where you could jump from one person's work to another commenting...and they could do the same.

I'm afraid. I feel that if such things will continue to happen, HP will lose its authors. The most technical way of keeping a promise. Great!  We never asked for what happened. In response to an old problem, a new problem has arisen. WOW!

Many writers, including myself, are writing here because of the community's love and support. Now they are asking us to drive a car with punctured tyres. Ufff!

Wow!! That's a great word if we're being Nice.

      I'm not feeling Nice.

I just tried articles on Niche site and I can not comment there either.

      Doomsday is here.

Me neither, but shutting off our ability to comment is not right.

It's gonna hurt us.  I don't see everything going live quickly and some articles don't go to Niche sites ...like word prompt series.

Exactly, and now that HP has started a new game of site mismatching when sending articles to network sites. It's a big problem! It was better as it was before because then we can at least comment on each others work. This is extremely disheartening. sad

I agree.   Our community is falling apart.

  8. Kyler J Falk profile image86

As a solution to the series not being transferred, those who create a community gathering place will only need to use dynamic titles. I believe that is the only solution to the lack of transfers for series, but within the body text it can be announced that something is part of a series.

Take for example any time we write on one of Brenda's word prompts we all announce that it is inspired by her prompts, and which prompt it is inspired by. I've found HubPages frowns upon the titles being named as a series, but the body text mentioning it with dynamic titles allows the article to be transferred.

The formatting of the series will need to be changed, unfortunately, but at least they can be continued in some form with some amount of effort from all of us to keep the community together.

We'll all work together to figure out a worthwhile solution to these developments, Brenda. Perhaps a forum post for each one of your word prompts where we may all gather to post our links, and that way you could maintain the format while offering the community a way to come and comment without hinderance. It's a bit out of the way from the old system, but it's definitely a workaround to keep all of our valued series running.

Kyler, your suggestion seems to be the only way that we can possibly keep these series type articles going. Please everyone email “team@hubpages.com” with your concerns. The more complaints they get the better…before it is too late! If it isn’t already.

The amount of stock I invest in the treatment I receive from HP staff is already very low, and the only thing that keeps this community what it is would be the Hubbers. If it means getting to remain a community of supportive authors for one another, it is worth it to find the loopholes and workarounds.

I should be working on article, but this seems a bit useless

    1. Kyler J Falk profile image86
Kyler J Falkposted 3 years agoin reply to this

I was thinking you do the article, start a forum post surrounding the word prompt for everyone to come and discuss, and have everyone post their contributions for you within the forum post so we may all have an organized area to keep up with everything. Otherwise, the only way to overcome this that I can think of is waiting for transfers which requires writing the articles with dynamic titles.

I don't know, it's a pain, but at least there are two viable options.

      1. Brenda Arledge profile image81
Brenda Arledgeposted 3 years agoin reply to this

Maybe...but then why even write an article.
I'll be giving word out on forum.

        Think I'm gonna turn in.
I'm not feeling well & this has made me worse

        1. Kyler J Falk profile image86
Kyler J Falkposted 3 years agoin reply to this

Your articles will still index to Google, and the community will most likely do their best to keep up with your work, Brenda. You're one of the most popular Hubbers I know, so it would be a huge blow to the community if we lost your word prompts and the joy they bring.

Get some rest, and we'll keep our fingers crossed that loopholes, workarounds, and/or good news comes about.

We need to find a way around this. I have also emailed the team but of course no reply yet. Maybe I will also have to write a forum post where people can leave comment and suggestions for Poems From the Porch.
I fear it will all become too much of a chore though.

    1. Kyler J Falk profile image86
Kyler J Falkposted 3 years agoin reply to this

It would be a convoluted process, and diminishing the series by changing the title each and every time would also be unfavorable from the standpoint of consistency and brand recognition even if it did get transferred.

This is really quite an unfortunate situation.

This is a sad time for Hub Pages. Comments helped us all and gave HP a real community feel. I have emailed some writers today, after reading their articles. But it takes longer and not everyone has an email contact on their profile. It is a very poor alternative to comments and it is not sustainable.
Figures for my articles have taken a nosedive over the past 2 weeks. It feels like HP is falling apart. The number of articles and writers using the site also seems to have dipped.
Bringing back comments would make writers feel more valued at least. Let's hope someone takes notice of our views.

It doesn't even make sense to me that they would remove comments from HubPages and Discover, sites that already are barely ranking with Google, and the rank they do have is so low it isn't really worth salvaging. They boast their Network sites they can barely manage to keep afloat, then they punish everyone and everything beneath, "network," status.

They must see something in this that no one but their staff can see.

Comments will not return. HubPages is effectively an abandoned sinking ship.

Don't know if you have kept up with events but if you have any articles on PetHelpful or DenGarden, you need to email Lisa Winter lwinter@thearenagroup.net to have them moved to Discover. Otherwise you will lose them.
