All of my made for Pinterest pictures at the top of my music articles have been changed. Some of them were changed to generic photos and others to new MFP pictures that I don't like as well. I get quite a bit of my traffic from Pinterest, so I feel like the old ones were accomplishing their purpose. Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't post on Pinterest, although it's my second highest source of traffic, but HP just edited an article I wrote about Sawyer Fredricks (on Spinditty) and they totally changed the lead photo. It's not what I originally posted.

Even if you don't post on Pinterest, it's good to have "pinnable" photos, so others will want to pin them. That must be what's happening if you are getting traffic from there. In fact, that's the preferable way.

This has never happened to me that I know. I will pay more attention now, though. It seems the editors are busy these days. I am hearing more about their edits on the forum.

Yes, I have had a few photos changes. Sometimes the title has been remodelled on my photo. Other times the photo has been replaced altogether.

Feel free to change your photos back, as long as they are good photos and are of the required size. If the ones HP used, maybe move them elsewhere within the article, unless you hate them, of course. They should not change our photos.

The bottom fell out of my pinning efforts. Nothing has been repinned in the last year and I only get traffic from repins of repins. I think I'm shadow banned so I'm considering setting up a new account.
I reverted back to previous images after an editor changed them. You don't have to use their ones if they're ugly.

Eugene, when you revert photos back to the originally posted ones, does HP move the article from the niche site?

No, I'm always changing things back and I've never been penalised. I put an ad back twice but I got my knuckles rapped for pushing it (by Robin I think). Most of the time though they correct grammar and punctuation and make other beneficial changes and I don't revert things back, but I'm finicky about title images.

I understand that if you set up a business Pinterest account, you can link to yourself all you want without being shadow banned.

I have a business account, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've pinned  and repinned loads of times, with no success. A few years ago, stuff was repinned daily. I can understand followers not repinning if they've seen or repinned before, but pins should be visible as recommendations to people who have searched for things in a specific category. Interestingly if I search for something, Pinterest recommends my own pins to me for that topic.

For a very long time, HubPages staff encouraged writers to create "made for Pinterest" images for the top of their article. Why they would now remove them seems strange.

If best practices have changed they should let us know.

Once again, it feels like lessons learned over the years are somehow forgotten. Like the staff that made HubPages what it is have moved on, and the current staff could maybe use a friendly history lesson or two before they start changing things.

Maybe that's a big misread, but without some transparency and interaction all we can do is guess what's going on.

They are replacing my MFP images with new ugly MFP images they have created. I honestly can't see how anyone would think the new ones are better. I'd prefer no photo to what they are adding.

I've been wondering about this. When I created "Made for Pinterest" images they had a vertical format, and when the niche sites came about I stop creating them because the square or horizontal seem to work better on the niche sites (most of mine are on Feltmagnet).

Maybe my idea of vertical format being great for Pinterest is wrong/outdated?
