Hey everyone.  Anyone else having trouble accessing HubPages through Google Chrome this morning?  Every time I try to access the site, a "403 Forbidden" message pops up.  Works fine on other browsers though.

I'm not receiving an error using Chrome. It seems the issue has been resolved.

Matt, I don't think it was a Google Chrome issue. I believe the site was down for maintenance. I also tested a few other browsers and the error remained the same. smile

I don't think it was a Google Chrome issue. According to my understanding, the site was down down for maintenance. I tried accessing with different browsers. smile

I'm having the same issue here. But when I tried accessing the site on a different laptop - same household, same Chrome - I got in just fine. It's a mystery.

Not on Chrome but I'm also having loading issues. I was checking out the new crime niche site and it wasn't loading properly.

This issue should be resolved now. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As of 1:06p (EST), I'm still getting some buffering before the page pops in. It happens when clicking from one page to another as well.

Then this happened when I tried to post this reply:
There may have been an error posting your reply (error).  We recommend copying the content of your reply somewhere for safekeeping, and then refreshing this page to see if your message has been posted. If this problem persists, please contact us at team@hubpages.com.

FYI, it took 3 minutes to post this.

I don't use Chrome, but I noticed there was a large latency this morning of about 6 seconds when loading pages in Firefox.

Just checked on Chrome and yes, there's a 403 error. I just checked one of the niche sites, Owlcation, and it loads ok.

I cleared the Hubpages cookie and there's still a problem

"Hubpages.com" doesn't load in the browser, but  "discover.hubpages.com" does. The login page "https://hubpages.com/signin/" also gives a 403.

Same thing for me as well. "discover.hubpages.com" will load, but every time I go to the login page it gives me the 403 message.

Doesn't work on a laptop, but I'm not getting a 403 error on my phone.

Yes, Matt, I use Edge, and I got the message that "Hubpages is down for maintenance. Please try after some time." The issue got resolved after about 1 hour.

It still isn't working for me.

It's now working for me, but I just received an email from HP friend who lives in US,  and she says she can't access the site.

Maybe it is a regional issue. Not sure!

      1. eugbug profile image66
eugbugposted 2 years agoin reply to this

We're both in Europe so that would indicate it's not regional, unless it's a specific problem per country. I'll check with a VPN later and investigate whether the site is accessible from other countries.
Are you using a laptop/desktop? It only appears to be a problem for me with Windows, so maybe it depends on the operating system.

I think you are right. Perhaps it isn't regional. I am able to access from all of my devices, including my laptop, iPad, and mobile smile

Somebody mentioned this on its facebook site, but I just logged in on my Chromebook. So, I guess everything is fine, so far.

I was continually getting the 403 error code on Chrome here in the U.S. but was able to log in through Firefox.

I couldn't load HP stats page on laptop with chrome and still can't 4 hours later (403 forbidden). (Florida)

It may be a cache issue for me at this point?

My smartphone browser said down for maintenance earlier today but is now working again.

I'm writing this with Edge which works okay.

Here in Canada, I can access HubPages in Chrome on my old laptop, my iPad, and my phone. Maybe the problem is restricted to certain areas or situations.

Maybe it's a Windows thing? Has anyone a problem with ioS?

My laptop is a Windows machine. HubPages seems to have no problems on it.

I don’t have any problems with iOS either. Perhaps the situation depends on location.

Not using Google Chrome but have noticed loading lag since the weekend. If buffers for a few seconds before the HP site loads. I'm using Microsoft Edge on my laptop. It happens on each page.

Not sure what's wrong, but now it's giving a 502 Gateway error on the Chrome browser on my laptop. And I am unable to log in with any browser on my mobile. On Duck Duck go, the page loaded but immediately gave a maintenance error.

I am currently using Microsoft Edge on my laptop, and even this is taking ages to load the page.

Edit: This just happened on opera browser on my mobile

Mine finally started working again as well (using Chrome on a Windows laptop).  Seemed a bit slow though. So maybe they are still working on everything.

  19. PaulGoodman67 profile image69

Yes, it's slow, and it went down again for a while...

Yes, the lag seems to have disappeared now! Finally back to normal haha.

Maybe our articles have been moved to faster servers to speed up load time.

Yes, it only took eight hours(!)

Presumably, HP will run more smoothly now that its tires have been rotated and its oil changed.

Network sites and their ads still take forever to load on my phone.

      1. PaulGoodman67 profile image69
PaulGoodman67posted 2 years agoin reply to this

I was joking. It was unrelated to your server comment, which I didn't see until after I posted.

I think the aggressive ads are a symptom of the problem, not the cause.
