Is it allowed to post my article that is on HubPages to the medium?  If so, how do I do it?

      Yes, it is smile

You can either go to Medium/(your)Stories and Import a story. Or you can start from scratch, copying in the text manually. I would only Import it if it was a recent article as it takes the original publication date.

It's also good to edit as you go because Medium has a different vibe from HubPages.

I always make sure I add, 'Originally published by author at... (whatever HP site it is on) at the end.

      Kobby...
Some of this is no longer true.

As long as an Article is first published on Hubpages, then you can do whatever you want with it.

Per the team...you can post eleswhere.
It may make a difference in views, etc...but it's your work.

People get this mixed up. It's okay to publish elsewhere **after** you have published it on HP. But you can't publish here if it is still live on another platform.

In other words, it has to be original when posted on HubPages, but it's your content so subsequently, you are free to do what you like with it.

Yes, that's the good thing about Medium. You can post any of your hubs there. When you are editing your article, however, you need to go to "More Settings" in the drop-down menu (3 dots) then sellect "Advance Settings" at the bottom...tick "Canonical Link"  and put in the link from HubPages that shows first date published.

I forgot about that. Don't think you have to do it if it's an import though as it is automatic.

This is a little off-topic but it's still about Medium. How do creative writing works do on Medium? And how earning work in there, is it also on a threshold basis?

Creative writing probably does better at Medium than here. Medium pays from internal views by paying members, not from outside views and advertising. It costs $5US per month to have full access. You can have a free account but can only read 3 stories/articles per month. You also need 100 followers before you are eligible to earn.

By the way, does writer have to be paying members as well?

Stripe, the only payment method of Medium, is not available in PH.

Has anyone broken up a longer HP article and posted it on Medium in shorter sections? Wondering how this would work with the rel=canonical tag as there would then be several pointing to the same original page.

No, I haven't done that, but wondered myself. So far I have refrained from sharing longer articles there.

Apart from one spectacular success, I've generally found publishing HP articles onto Medium to be counterproductive.

They usually fail miserably to generate much income and sometimes they suck up some of the Google views. That's a problem because articles earn money for search engine views on HP but not Medium.

I've therefore stopped the practice of copying over to Medium and I'm now looking at deleting some of the ones that I did previously.

(Also, I don't believe that the canonical link is an issue. That's a different problem, though.)
