    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article? What can I do to improve? Thanks!
Here is my article: Making Minimum Wage Isn't As Bad As You Think. Here Is Why...

Bishamon, HubPages is an American site with mainly American readers.  Here in America, it is impossible to live on minimum wage.  You cannot earn enough on minimum wage to rent an apartment, buy a car or even buy enough food.

If it is possible to live on minimum wage in other countries, then write about that.  Writing about being able to live on minimum wage in America is the same as writing about the earth being flat or the sun revolving around the earth - it just isn't true.

Amen to that, but the article is on Discover now.

Firstly, the tone is not very engaging and may come across as preachy. Secondly, the story about Tasha is graphic and disturbing and may not be appropriate for all readers. Lastly, the story is not relevant to the main point of the article, which is that a $10/hr job is not as bad as it seems. A better approach would be to focus on the positives of having a job, no matter how low-paying it may be, and offer advice and resources for those who are struggling to make ends meet.

I changed that title. I'm not sure why it still reads $10/hr.

I was going to post something similar to the posts by OldRoses and Patty. Minimum wage is very often not the same as a living wage in the part of Canada where I live or in the United States, based on my quick reading of sources that should reliable. A person would very likely need help from social organizations in order to survive if they make the minimum wage, especially if they have people to support.

Sorry, but it doesn't work for me. You are taking a fictional situation and trying to make a generalization out of it. Of course, the minimum wage is better than no wage but we all know that.

This "article" has a very familiar ring to it. I seem to recall it caused a stir earlier.

I cannot think of a more obnoxious justification for minimum wage jobs than this - just be thankful your $7.25-an-hour employment in Alabama, Oklahoma, and elsewhere means you don't have become a prostitute. This sounds Dickensian in its support of the exploitation of labour.

And, what is this drivel doing on Discover?

I think you're missing the point of the article. It's okay if you do not understand everything. However, it is meant to encourage minimum wage earners that it's a worse situation than the one that they may be in. It's as simple as that, my friend.

I have emailed HubPages and asked that they remove your extremely offensive article.

I'm sorry to bust all of you guys' bubble but the article refers to having a support system. The article is directed to those who make minimum wage but have a family to help out. It gets worse because some people are out on the street having to deal with God knows what. I thought I made that very clear.  It's okay if you do not understand everything. We are all human.

Then if we are all taking it the wrong way, it doesn't work.

Maybe it's a wake up call to those who haven't a clue about other realities that are just next door. It can work.

@Stephen Tomkison It's obvious you haven't been in that tough situation. But many who make minimum wage, while many people around them are doing quite well for themselves, are not thinking about the worser side of life. The are stuck with a mentality that their reality is the worse because of what's in their surrounding. This can lead to suicide. If they know that stepping outside of their reality, life can be worse, than they may appreciate their current minimum wage position a little more.

Actually, Bishamon, I have been in that situation - many years ago, it's true. I appreciate what you are trying to do and say but there are more sensitive ways to do it.

Thank you, Rupert.  I think that it's important that we writers speak up.  The problem with offensive articles like this is that they drive readers away so it affects all of us.

It also brings readers. Who knows, new guests could be influenced by my article and   instead of falling off the tracks, continue with their minimum wage job and make manager. They also have Hubpages to thank.

I'm not sure why this article's been posted again in the forums? I think the Amazon one was previously posted too. Both look familiar.

Well, Hubpages claims that it can be featured. But I can never figure out what it needs.

I am currently working at a minimum wage job, since my previous job that I had held for most of my adult life was eliminated last year.

Therefore, I feel I am eminently qualified to say:

    It sucks.

Thank you for your comment. Now match your situation up with Tasha's. What future does she have going the route she is going? And what potential future do you have? Perhaps a supervisor or manager?
