A question for Hubpages:
Often I use bullet point lists at the start of articles to list what's going to be covered. If I have a short sentence before the list at the top of a text capsule, an ad or a video (if the text module is at the beginning of an article) frequently butts in before the list. Have you any suggestions to stop this happening?
Can you convert the bullet list to an image and post that instead?
I could, but that would mean I lose the benefit of the text content and keywords appearing in searches and contributing to ranking.
Can you put it into a table? They don't split tables.
The bullet list at the top of an article shows what things will be covered in the guide, so it'd look a bit odd.
That would be weird. I read where google could extract text from images, so maybe Patty's suggestion would work, but it would take forever to load.
I think my opinion of putting one of your videos at the top and then making the bullet list below that capsule would be a good thing to do. It won't affect the presentation of your article.
But then there'll be my video, an ad, then the Hubpages video before my bullet list . It doesn't look good. It's bad enough with Hubpages stuff on its own.
I believe that no ad will be placed after a video at any cost.
You can place a video at the top of your article and then post the text capsule with that bullet list. In that way, there won't be space for them to show the ads there.
My feeling is that even if you did find ways to manipulate where the ads appear, you'd be punished for it.
Elements of what's happening nowadays can feel regressive. I remember when I first joined HP and they had all the generic ads with ads breaking up text. I remember thinking it looked spammy.
I definitely thought it was a step forward when they introduced a cleaner look after Panda and handled their own Hub Ads rather than relying on generic Google ads.
Now, we seem to be back to 2010.
However, I think TAG is a bigger beast than just HP and it's unlikely that they'll alter their ad ideas for just one site.

I am working on article right now and realize that I have what feels like a huge bullet list. Though completely relevant to the topic (specific about a college and what courses are offered). I feel like that leaves a lot of maybe unnecessary scrolling between the bullets and the next bit of text. I...

A very kind soul noticed a month ago that I need to learn how to break up my text with photos or something between the paragraphs when my text is long. She explained how to do it. I tried and couldn't grasp it. Then I misplaced or accidentally deleted her email -- so I haven't...

Are tables still a good thing for SEO? I find them difficult to read, especially if they are lists in three columns. They are also very difficult to edit, if it is an alphabetical listing. It throws everything out of whack to add or remove an item in the list. Editors keep taking...

I give! I've searched the first 3 or 4 pages of "Getting Help" Forum and I've read the entire Link's Capsule section in the Learning Center (http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/using-hubtool). That Hub, by the way, has a large number of Quick Links in it. How do you create a list of topics...
