Does anyone know why the turnout is so low? My daily earnings has never been so bleak, is anyone else experiencing this?

It's a common challenge for all hubbers here.                                  Views are zero to low. Earnings are likewise low.

I seem to be getting more traffic here since I joined Pinterest and I started to show my Hubs on there.

Most articles I've written get 0 views per day. About 15 articles account for 95% of my readership. I haven't found the secret yet but the common factor in my top articles happens to be that there is not a lot of competition on the subject.

Not sure what you mean by "turnout." However, there are numerous threads here describing low traffic and, therefore, earnings. It seems to have a lot to do with how Google indexes articles.

Someone has told me on a Google forum that it's only a waste of time writing stuff that's been covered before because Google and their obsession with EEAT and dislike of content writing,  only wants original content. My counter argument was that if everyone took that attitude, there would only be one book on any subject, like a bible and nothing would ever be written from a new angle or to explain a subject better.

It's certainly close to impossible to find topic areas that aren't already widely covered nowadays unless they're either obscure or contemperaneous/not evergreen. The saturation contributes to the problems HP is suffering but is only a part of it.

It was a completely different environment a dozen years ago. It seems weird now how easy it was back then to find topics/keywords that were barely covered. I guess the internet and search were still in their infancy back then.

Yes, the majority of us are experiencing the same. In a nutshell, the Arena Group is in transition, undergoing major changes that impact our views and earnings. hmm Google is playing a major role as well. There are forums on the subject. Hang in there.

Yes, as Jan says, there's turbulence in every direction you look, at TAG CEO level, HP, and Google search. Who knows where we're headed but things have been getting steadily worse for over two years.

Things were also different before the Pandemic. I honestly think google and ad companies took a hit as well. I am hearing that a lot of writing websites went under and others are freelance writers are having same trouble we're having on Hubpages with different writing sites.

The pandemic meant that many people worked from home or were forced to stay at home. I don't believe that generally stopped them from searching and surfing the internet and/or buying things online.

In many cases, they bought more stuff online because they were shopping from home. For instance, companies such as Amazon benefitted hugely from the pandemic. A few industries, such as travel and hospitality, were hit by the pandemic, it's true, but overall, there wasn't a significant negative impact on tech and internet-based companies.

Maybe the pandemic accelerated certain existing trends is what happened. I was generally doing fine at the peak of the pandemic period myself.

For sure, freelance writing and online publishing is in decline and faces huge challenges but for numerous other reasons, I would say, including the prospect of AI on the horizon. That's where most of the investment is going nowadays.

At the beginning of the Pandemic it was that way, but as time passed after the Pandemic my views and payout was significantly impacted and so far it hasn't recovered. At this very moment it's worse than ever.

Views and earnings have declined since the war in Ukraine began too but that doesn't mean there's a causal relationship.

There are numerous reasons why things are going badly here but I wouldn't include the pandemic.

I definitely see how there could be many reasons, but for me there's an association simply because my experience on Hubpages has been nothing like or returned the way it was pre Pandemic times. But that's just me, it may be different for others.

My traffic today is down to about one view per half hour today. It used to be a view every couple of seconds. Eventually there'll be no traffic.

The fall from grace has continued relentlessly for two and a half years.

The fall is even longer if you categorize the 5-month "golden age" at the start of 2021 as just a brief aberration in longer-term decline, which began in late 2019.

I'm now spending time elsewhere to make up for the lost earnings. It saddens me, though, because I liked writing here, but needs must.

I made a concerted effort there. The huge "impressions" stats can look impressive, but the practical realty for me is just ten to fifteen outbound clicks that find their way from Pinterest to HP each day.

While it's better than nothing, it's not life-changing and certainly doesn't make up for all the search engine traffic that I've lost over the past two or three years.
