Hi. It's been a while since I last posted.
I updated the linked article yesterday to remove dead links. (The original article passed QAP and was featured.) I just received an email stating that the updated Hub "has the opportunity to become featured," and that HubPages "strongly recommends making a few improvements."
I used to teach English, so the grammar and conventions shouldn't be problems. The email wasn't clear.
I'm confused and frustrated. What, specifically, is wrong with my Hub that prevents it from passing QAP? It's the first to fail QAP.
Here is my article: Common Writing Mistakes and How to Avoid Them: Part 1
Hi Natasha!
A few things I noticed. You need to have an opening picture. This would go before your first text capsule.
If you're going to use an Amazon capsule you'll need to write a description of the product and how you feel about the product. Just an Amazon ad alone won't get you featured.
I'd also remove the bold face in your paragraphs and break down your paragraphs a little more. When you first joined HugPages lots of people still read articles on their computers. These days they read them more on the phone so shorter paragraphs are preferred.
Hope this helps!
I enjoyed reading your article Natasha and am guilty of some of the word offences! The QAP emails are always generic, so nothing unusual there.
I don’t have time to comment on the content, but you may wish to revisit your title and headers to ensure your article progresses logically.
Your title is “Common Writing Mistakes and How to Avoid Them: Part 1” I would remove the “Part 1” and consider inserting a number e.g. 6 Common Writing Mistakes and How to Avoid Them.
You have Brevity Step 1, but there is no Step 2.
Brevity: The Art of Being Concise - I personally would change to What is Brevity? Or Benefits of Brevity When Writing.
You repeat the phrase “Word Clutter” in your headers 3 times, which may be considered keyword stuffing.
You also use “” quite a bit in your headers, which I would remove.
The definition of circumlocution could be used in a call-out capsule, before you use it in your text. It would also be helpful to define verb, adverb, noun and adjective.
Just a few suggestions, which I hope you find useful. Best of luck!
