Is Hubpages dying

I was wondering if all of you think Hubpages is going to disappear? The traffic is not what it used to be and earnings are quite meager. For me the decline began in the middle of the pandemic...but improved a bit after time. Now it seems traffic has become worse daily and Hubpages has eliminated their website. Any thoughts?

When you Google Hubpages, the default URL is discover.hubpages.com. The original hubpages.com no longer comes up in searches. We all are very well aware that HP is on its way out the door. That was made apparent when all but a few of the niche sites were removed and PetHelpful and Dengarden are the sole property of TAG as online magazines.

PetHelpful is now Parade Pets.com. I haven't been notified of the new home for Dengarden, but I think it will also fall under the Parade umbrella.

If you type Hubpages.com directly into your browser, you'll be taken to your personal feed. So, yes, it seems HP is dead. mad

Bad news.  I am still getting hits but my earnings haven't gone up in a couple of days.

My earnings went up today. They've had such glitches before.

The signs are not good! HP has been on a slippery slope for years, TAG's ownership put grease on that slope and here we are now, ready for the deep.
I've been here since 2012 so, like many veterans, have ridden the roller coaster and seen the best and worst of HP, the peak years reflected in thriving comments, sensible management updates, a wealth of writing talent, loads of traffic and regular 4 figure per month earnings.

HP has gone backward under TAG despite all the editing (which has been of a high standard mostly) hot air and promises. TAG altered the layout, saturated ads and lost a high percentage of viewers almost overnight, which baffled many of us because the editing was ongoing - the proverbial rearranging the deckchairs on the blooming Titanic! Add in Google's changing algorithm and online rends and the recipe was set for good.

At present I have over 400 articles on Owlcation (all backed up, no worries) which still earn me three figures per month so I naturally want HP to continue.

      Anything can happen.

There's still hope though - a change in ownership, individual initiative, buy-out?

Throughout these challenging years one name on the forums has remained consistently steadfast for HP -Matt Wells. Admittedly he only usually answers questions of a technical nature but he's always maintained 'HP is here to stay'. I guess the day he turns round and says 'HP is well and truly f*&%£d' then I'll believe it!!!!

Maybe it's dead already since earnings haven't been updated.

Yes, I've noticed that earnings haven't been updated in a couple of days.  I do hope it's not dying, I like writing on here.

I hope it will not die as I haven't withdrawn my earnings yet ever since last year. Huhu If it will die, please let it die after I reach at least 50 dollars this year.

Somebody must be there shoving shillings in the meter (British reference from an earlier era when we bought electricity and gas at a shilling's worth a time) to keep the lights on and the website up. My views are still updating, miserably, so perhaps all is not lost - for now.

How death is defined kind of doesn’t matter at this stage. Views and earnings are next to nothing and heading inexorably for zero.

The question for me was whether there’d be a recovery. I don’t believe that will happen now.

HP isn’t going to be cured. Any care it’s receiving is palliative.

Calling Matt 'HP is here to stay' Wells! Your input is needed - reassure the masses with a simple response, something along the lines of 'HP is here to stay'.....

I've not been paying attention for a while, not publishing here anymore. Sad to see the posts that confirm it's essentially over. I updated my articles last week for the first time in months just because. Not realizing you can't submit to certain niches anymore, I received an email letting me know, " . . . you can no longer submit to Toughnickel . . . " I tried to reply to ask, 'how about Owlcation,' but the emails are now 'no reply.' (Sigh) HP Staff: Please, just let us know when the last day is so we can physically and psychologically move on. Also, will we get our remaining coins? Asking for many friends. neutral

As long as HP's still going and I'm earning something, I will keep checking in. Mainly to see what drastic changes are happening. For example, I don't want my articles to be moved to TAG publications where I will earn nothing.

All that said, more and more of my articles are earning zero on a daily basis nowadays.

I had an article selected to move to Owlcation yesterday.

That's odd, I thought Owlcation was one of many HP niche sites that are or are destined to become defunct. Keep an eye on it, Melissa!

I've also had a couple of articles moved to Owlcation. Delishably too. Only boosted to the niche sites because I've submitted them. I don't think HP takes the initiative to move articles anymore.

Seems it's now the sole responsibility of Lisa Winter at the arena group?
