A straw in the wind? I've just been notified that one of my articles has been moved to Owlcation from Discover. The piece was written in January 2023 and placed on The Crime Wire. It was booted down to Discover and now promoted (?) to Owlcation.
It seems someone is still performing editorial functions.
Congratulations, Rupert! I hope someone really is functioning for us at HP. Keeping a good thought.
I had one move to WonderWisdom last week and another two weeks before.
We are still curating for Delishably, Hobbylark, Owlcation, WanderWisdom, LetterPile, and WeHaveKids. If you create a high quality article, it has a good chance of being moved to one of these Network Sites.
If you still believe in niche sites, why can't you create some more. Like we can have two to house pet and garden articles, but not made to compete with Pethelpful and Dengarden, just something for HubPages. It can really help in terms of views and earning. Discover being a content farm is not helping at all.
The problem is that if a niche becomes successful, my expectation now is that TAG will create their own new publication and move the best articles over there.
That's the lesson I learned from Dengarden and Pethelpful.
That seems to be the way things have gone so far, Paul. Hopefully, with Paul at the helm now, he'll not do that in order to keep his baby, HP, alive.
And, just now a second article has been lifted out of Discover and placed on Owlcation.
That's great news, Rupert. I'd better get back to updating/revising my HP articles to see if they can be lifted out of limbo. You've motivated me to get a move on!
It's difficult to know what the logic is. Sometimes I believe it relates to how the different niches are performing (which are independent entities as far as Google is concerned) but other times I think it's down to a different editor/staffer coming along and having a different interpretation or set of instructions.
I'm not sure that it matters, though. None of the niches were doing well the last time I looked.
I guess the only positive is that there are still some efforts happening, however minor.
I guess any movement is better than none. It shows there is still some life in the old dog.
I hope they make Owlcation into a proper knowledge hub, like Quora but with articles. Or they just think they can sell Owlcation to someone.
Matt is doing certain editorial works it seems. Thank heavens, Hubpages is really here to stay.

Thank you for being a part of HubPages over the years. Last October, we moved PetHelpful and Dengarden to a new content management system, where they exist as standalone sites within The Arena Group and no longer receive HubPages author submissions. We have now decided to move Delishably,...

Most forum posts comment on plans outside HP, such as taking their articles from HP and developing their own websites, with no discussions about thriving or surviving on HP. I am trying to articulate what I am experiencing with HP, so bear with me. It's like disjointed information, where HP says...

Is there any way to eliminate the automated inappropriate article suggestions/promotions featured in my articles? They aren't even close to the topics I write about—in fact, they are the complete opposite subject matters and offensive. One featured a woman bending forward with her cleavage ready to...

I just sat in on an "emergency summit" held by AWAI (an organization to which I belong and from which I've taken many writing courses) which discussed the latest Google algo update, why sites' rankings are falling, and what can be done from a writing standpoint. I found this discussion...
