Why is HP/TAG not communicating with us?

For some time or for too long, HP/TAG has been noticeably quiet or refuses to communicate with its writers. Why is that? Also, would it not be wise for them to communicate with us and be transparent? That way, it will keep us from having to turn to associations, guilds, and news media to vent our frustrations and indignation.

HP/TAG may be reflecting a current and growing business mindset of 2025-- It reminds me of Ray Kroc's philosophy in the 1950s, 1960s of hiring people cheap, working them hard until they cannot produce any further, and then getting rid of them. Of course, we are not employees, but I think that HP writers are not very important to the company now. I would like to be wrong about that.

If we can get media contact off the runway and into the air, I'm sure someone from HP/TAG admin would love to comment on the matter.

Presumably because the ship has been abandoned until it's sunk to avoid causing a danger to navigation. The staff are probably concentrating on TAG sites. No point them wasting time here.

I hear you, Eugene. However, they remain silent, which is unacceptable and unprofessional.

The silence makes it fairly obvious that HP/TAG does not give a rat's arse for the people that created a product for it to sell.

This is capitalism red of tooth and claw. It's simply medieval feudalism in a slightly different guise.

Another thing I find disturbing is the untruth we’ve been told (by Matt) that HP is going nowhere. Giving the impression that all is well, when it’s so glaringly obvious that it’s not!

Although Matt has repeatedly told us that HP isn't going anywhere, that was actually sneak-speak for HP is going nowhere! Other than down the drain, that is. No amount of Drano can help us now. mad

So sad that they can’t tell us what it is and come clean with us!

They didn't want people to do what I'm doing, packing my articles into a box and removing them.

I wish I'd done it months ago. It's very freeing smile

Matt is just the operations guy, as I understand it. That usually means a role concerned with the everyday practical running of the site.

When I worked in libraries and we were closing libraries down, it was the senior management that made the decisions and dictated what all employees should say to customers regarding closures. There's no point in fixating on what the IT guy says.

It should also be said that HP made an official announcement saying that they had given up on the HP model.

Some hubbers are just ignoring that announcement, presumably because they don't want to hear it.

The game's over and has been for months, if not years.

Paul writes "It should also be said that HP made an official announcement saying that they had given up on the HP model."

I missed that announcement. When did it happen?

I believe, unless he has the source, Paul was reading between the lines. It's his interpretation.

I think he is referring to Haley's official announcements about the moving of the latest niche sites. She did not say giving up, but it's implied.

"As we endeavor to grow our remaining HubPages brands alongside our Parade brand, we have made the strategic decision to pivot away from the user-generated content model used by our HubPages system".

I read that as HubPages is going to cease to exist at some point. Honestly, the only reason I stayed was because Matt said Discover/HP was not going anywhere. I should have removed all my content when I saw that initial announcement months ago.

I missed it, too. I definitely would have paid attention had the announcement been sent globally.
