I was a little concerned, given the lack of, well, everything lately that payment would be late or non-existent. But, yay, it just arrived.

Hubpages has been good to me over the years but recent events have persuaded me to remove my work. I'm proud that since receiving regular payments, I've never missed one, right to the end.

I am grateful for the platform and the 12 million plus people who read my articles over the years.

May I suggest that those in charge express appreciation to all the writers who kept you in business, especially the ones who have remained loyal (and hopeful) up to now.

I also received my last payment. Eighteen-plus years, and it's time to leave. It's been quite a ride that could have ended on a better note.

I may or may not reach the payout threshold by next month. Who knows? With the downgrade I think the last time I made that was back in April. This is bad (then again, you didn't need to tell you that). It likes how things went months before Sears eventually closed its doors. Nobody there working cared to tidy up the place and most things were  haphazardly stocked.

If I read behind the lines correctly, does this mean Hubpages is on it's way out?
I have to admit I haven't done much on here for years. My "lenses" from Squidoo all got absorbed into Hubpages when Squidoo sold out and my earnings dropped to a mere 1% of what they were, despite attempts to fix things.

To answer your question as succinctly as possible: Yep. All signs indicate that.

Sad but a sign of the times I guess. Social media sites are where many people go now for information and traffic to sites like Hubpages is waning.
Just a shame for those who have spent countless hours developing content and earning a living from it.

Right so what do we do now?

If they follow the pattern of other sites, they will pull the plug without a thank you or warning. Thsi seems to be the method in 2025. Very sad. What will you do with your work?

First thing to do is to back your work up.  I can't remember if Hubpages provides a way to do this (probably not) but the following works in Firefox and should also work in Chrome:

        1. In your Downloads folder (or other preferred location on your computer), create a folder for your Hubs
        2. Click on the page you want to save to open it
        3. Right click anywhere in the page  and select "Save page as"
        4. Change the location to the Hubpages folder you just created and save.

This will create a file with the name of the page in your Hubpages folder, it will also create a folder with the same name, which will contain all the images, Javascript and more.

You can now open the page offline, even if Hubpages doesn't exist any more. It won't display 100% correct, but it's good enough for you to scrape or copy the content onto a new site.

Attached is a screenshot from my save of THIS page. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Tony. I guess I need to start. But I'm afraid I won't have enough space on my laptop, especially with all the photos. I wish I could just hire someone to do it for me. hmm Maybe I won't save them all. I actually do have all the drafts for every article I've ever written for HP. It's the edited/final versions I never saved. neutral

Lack of space on a laptop is a common problem unfortunately. There is always a flash drive, Google Drive or MS One Drive. I mostly use Google Drive these days as you can specify folders to save from your laptop hard drive and it will back the contents up to the cloud. You can opt to keep folder files on the hard drive as well as in the cloud or just in the cloud, which saves space on the laptop.
Another benefit of this is that you can access those folders from any device as long as you log into Google.
            Hope this helps.

Yes, a little bit of recognition would be nice for the folks who created the product they had to sell, but I'll be immensely surprised if it happens.

From hitting payout every month I'm now earning enough to reach the golden $50 once every four or five months. Be still my beating heart.

I believe the “Thank you for being a part of HubPages over the years” from Haley Davis was intended as the thank you and goodbye.

I have ten accounts and it was common for five or six of them to hit payout each month. Not anymore. It’s not coming back.

The latest stats I’ve seen from Pew show that fewer searchers are going beyond the Google AI summary and clicking on the links to articles.
