PageRank or page rank

As sunforged correctly pointed out on another thread there seems to be a lot of confusion over the usage of the terms 'page rank' and 'PageRank'.  Question and answers regularly appear here in the forums and in Hubs that use the terms interchangeably. PageRank is so called after its inventor Larry Page, the Page in PageRank does not refer to a physical webpage. Perhaps if Sergey Brin had invented BrinRank instead there would be less confusion. (Larry Page and Sergey Brin were the founders of Google.)

The two terms are not interchangeable and often lead to confusion when incorrectly used. PageRank is a mathematical calculation based on the amount of inbound links that point to a page, however PageRank in itself has very little to do with how a page ranks.
