Okay, last month - from ALLLLmy blogs, all my everything - I earned a pathetic $1.82 in AdSense revenue. Total. (Don't spend it all in one place, right?)

In April, I began Hubbing. This month so far, 17 days in, with my small pack of 12 Hubs (most created this week), I've already made $9.26.

Now that's not gonna pay my kid's private school tuition, but I know how many Squidoo lenses I have spread across multiple accounts and if I get in the game with an equal number of Hub pages, we're talking some substantial earnings on here!

I'm excited wink I never paid much attention to AdSense since my primary income comes from eBooks and affiliate earnings of the non-adsense kind.

    Tiff wink <----excited.

I'll say I've never gotten in revenue on Squidoo what I get at HubPages (In terms of Adsense). I have some hubs that are similar topics as some of my lenses, and the hubs do better than the lenses in regards to traffic.
I don't know about any slap because I didn't notice drastic drops in any of my hubs. I mean I'm not saying there wasn't any, but non that I noticed. I usually only check my top hubs, and I didn't see any drastic drops in traffic on any of them.

I notice I made the highest amount I have made yet in AdSense yesterday. A whole 82cents, but all but 2cents came from HubPages. It makes you feel you are actually accomplishing something smile

Hub is the only thing I'm doing different right now. Very cool!

This may be due in part to the fact that we boosted user shares to 70% of impressions to compensate for the brief AdSense outage earlier this week.  Not to burst any bubbles, AdSense monetizes very well here at HubPages. Just don't want you to be disappointed if you see those numbers return to what you were used to when we return to the 60/40 split at the end of the month.

Yeah, Hubpages Adsense performance is pretty impressive.I think before I joined, I'd been using Adsense on most of my other sites and had still never met minimum payout. Once I was hubbing though, I made minimum payout within about three months and then after that I make it every month now and it is growing so it makes a nice secondary income stream.

Hey, it's still more than I was expecting smile I'll be happy with whatever. I hoping to have a lot more hubs by next month smile

I haven't checked my earnings recently but I also find HubPages much, much better than my pitiful attempts at blogging.  It's the extra visibility that makes the difference IMO.

Yes Marsa's right April is going to be a statistical anomaly because of the technical issues.   I just published my last  6 months Adsense earnings here:
since Oct my monthly Adsense tracks as : $6.50, $8.40, $12.60. $22.90, $17.30, $24.12 Of all of those about $2 from my own sites.

What I don't like about Adsense is that Google can turn against your hub even with HP as an authority site: Mark has posted about this and I have found the same thing - sometimes I get lots of Google traffic sometimes none - and my Adsense clicks always comes from Google : not all google traffic will click but non-google traffic hardly ever clicks!

Same thing happened to me recently. One of my hubs that used to be my top Adsense earner always got a ton of traffic from Google. As of several days ago, Google traffic has slowed to a trickle.

Oh well. I try and not worry about it too much and just keep on writing new hubs, but it really sucks when your traffic on a single page drops from 100s per day down to 20-30 per day and most of that traffic now is coming from backlinks rather than the search engine *shakes fist at Google*

The good thing about that - you'll be on the first page of hot hubs when your traffic is back smile

haha! I do hope that happens soon then. I'd hate to find that the traffic for that page is gone for good.

Well I am just thrilled at my results so far, my site doesn't come close to hubpages earnings, but since being on hubages I have learned so much about how to present you articles in a way that is attractive to the user, so I find this has helped me make my site better and now I am seeing some results there too.

If I look at my Analytics, my total Google traffic across all my hubs suddenly dropped about April 2 to about 25% of what it was before that.  Looking at more detail, I have about 1/2 my hubs (some of the higher traffic ones) dropped to zero.  It's somewhat offset by an increase in Yahoo traffic, but that will never catch up to Google.

    Anyone else seeing this?

Yes. Big drop a few weeks ago.

It is certain hubs that have all of a sudden dropped from hundreds of visits a week to almost zero.

      http://hubpages.com/hub/Five-Best-iPhone-Cases
      http://hubpages.com/hub/Five-Best-iPhone-Earphones

When I asked on the forums about it, I was told it is just one of those things and too bad google's algorithm just does this sometimes.

As others suggested, I have added more backlinks, but it has made no difference.

For an un-known reason, these particular hubs have been buried in the search results and their traffic statistics look like this:

      http://markpknowles.com/wp-content/uploads/cases.jpg
      http://markpknowles.com/wp-content/uploads/earphones.jpg

70-125 visits a day to almost nothing.

Apparently, this can just happen at any time and when it does, you have no re-course. I haven't lost as much traffic as you have, but I am not a happy bunny about this. I see no reason why this should happen selectively to a few of my hubs. I didn't do anything different with these than all the others.

Hub pages say they can do nothing. Google appears to be un-approachable and if this happens you can just kiss goodbye to whatever income you were making.

Adding more backlinks is the only thing any one has suggested, but I think this is a penalty of some kind as I cannot find them any where in the results. Not even for a search of the title.

If you do a search for five best iphone cases, one of my other hubs with a link to this one comes up on the first page of results.

      Answer - tough luck.

The same thing that happened to Mark happened to me. My hubs were getting nowhere near the traffic his were, but still decent enough for me. They have still not recovered. I'm still no the wiser as to why it happened, either. One hub was delisted entirely off Google's search engine results. (I checked it on the Google Webmaster Tool and it's not indexed any more at all).

It's sad news but this can happen to anyone and there does seem to be no recourse, as Mark suggested. It sure put a dent in my enthusiasm, I have to say.

some of my hubs stopped getting traffic from google a few weeks back but after 2 weeks of doing nothing, only a little updating, its getting back visits from yahoo and google..i think the same case 'll repeat in others case also..may be worth a try updating ur hub..smile

I've had traffic drop dramatically on several of mine in the last few weeks as well, though they were never anywhere near as high as Mark's or embitca's to start with. It's discouraging, but meanwhile, I, too, am working on backlinks. That does seem to be the only thing you can do. sad

I've been interested to read other people's claims that they get better traffic with hubs than Squidoo lenses, because so far I have to say the opposite is true for me. At this point, I'm assuming it's partly just because I've been at Squidoo much longer, though, so even though I don't do a great deal of promotion for either my lenses or hubs, the lenses have had more time to be noticed by others and to build up backlinks that way. It will be interesting to see how they compare in a few more months.

I noticed this on my top hubs too - all of a sudden I went from 50+ views on Google daily to almost nothing.  This happened about 2 weeks ago.  I've re-worked the SEO on a few pages and seen some traffic uptick on Yahoo or MSN, but I feel like I'm really pulling teeth to get views.

Wow, this same thing happened on Squidoo to all of us when suddenyl we were victims of the Squidoo Slap.

Could Hub Pages have been slapped, too? Luckily, Squidoo ironed things out and about 3-4 weeks later, we recovered. But they had to do away with things like the iframe.

I find it odd that so many of you have the same exact story and timeline for this drop in traffic. So now it has me wondering...

The only reason I think it isn't a slap and just a random thing is that it hasn't happened across all of my hubs. It's just this one particular hub that I noticed it on. I have a couple of other high traffic hubs that seem to be holding their own.

I almost wonder actually if it was some kind of backlink penalization. I had been doing article marketing for this particular hub and maybe I just used the same keywords in the backlinks too many times. I dunno. It's not like I'm doing thousands of submissions, so logically I don't think that is it either. I'm just stuck on what it could be.
