Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and only stumbled upon it while I was trawling around, looking for some way of making a few pennies doing something I love - which is writing. The trouble is, I'm a bit of a dummy when it comes to computer stuff, and although I've managed to set myself up and even write my first hub, I dont know what I'm supposed to do with it once I've put it out. I've joined adserve and amazon, and done everything the learning centre has told me, but I don't know anything about 'keywords' and 'backlinks' etc.
Any pointers would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

in the upper right corner of this page is a search box - search hubs for 'keywords' and 'backlinks' , you will find plenty of information to get you started with the learning process.  (backlinks are basically a marketing tool)

      Welcome & Good Luck!  smile

Take a look at Darkside, RyanK & Relache for back link and SEO hubs...they know what they are writing about, they know how to make money.  Use the search function and type in SEO, keywords, back links and you will see a lot of quality hubs on these topics.

Good luck.  It takes time & patience, and quality writing!

    Hi lucieanne,
If you want to learn about all of the money making stuff just click on Hubs near the top left, search those terms you want to learn about in the search bar, grab a beverage, and be prepared to read a lot.

Welcome to Hp first of all.
Then might I suggest that you look up a few Hubbers who have been really great help to the community by sharing their knowledge on these subjects. Sunforged, Ryankett, Darkside, Markknowels, Marisa Wright, DaleMazurek, Thisisoli, and Livewithrichard are a few that come to mind. All have some really great hubs on these subjects.

I looked at your first hub (congratulations on that!), and noticed that you have somehow managed to put the comments field between the images and the text. This is not good. So you want to go into "edit" mode and move the capsules around to get the comments capsule moved down after the text module.

Also, I recommend that you get yourself a suitable avatar as quickly as possible.

Wow - fast response. Thank you all very much for your advice, which I'm going to re-read and digest slowly. I'll have a good browse around the site and read a few hubs and try and get my brain into gear regarding 'backlinks'.
      Thanks again for your comments

    Welcome smile

Search, as the hubbers above have explained, and you'll find an answer to every question you have.

Be prepared to study! And have patience. When you are new, the money is slow in coming. Work hard and it will pay off for you.

You've done an impressive job with your first hub, Lucieanne.

You can start with this part of the Learning Center walkthrough for beginners (written by darkside) which will guide you through those first few steps. We were all beginners once. smile

(By the way, it looks like I'm going to get about $315 this month from Adsense from my 132 hubs, and I haven't even published in a while...)

Keywords are typed into search engines like Google to find something online.  When you write a new hub imagine you are searching for your article, think about words that best describe your topic and use them for your title. Test them in searches first to see how popular they are. Slightly longer titles are better for SEO because you produce more search options.

Hi Everyone. I just want to say a massive 'Thank you' for the wonderful warm welcome I've received from each and everyone of you who have taken the time to reply, offer me support and read my first hub. I feel more confident now, especially as I know there are so many experts on hand to offer me guidance and support. I hope one day I can offer as much assistance and goodwill to others as you are all showing me right now.
      Cheers

Hi lucieanne! First of all is i can't really help that much with this one since iv'e been here for just five weeks, and i know that it will take time to earn, but here's what i can suggest, you can either search for hubs regarding backlinks  and you can also check out featured hubbers a lot of them have great hubs of different topics. Goodluck and Godbless
