I very seldom lose followers, and usually only one at a time! It happens when people close their hubpages accounts mostly, but having just lost two I wondered if I was upsetting my dear followers?
I think I lost a couple today too, interesting. Maybe a couple of people got booted
You may be right UW, I got two back now I've lost them again.
I have been known to upset some of my followers, and they have evaporated. Nothing you can do; just be yourself and move on.
All is well, I just got 2 new ones out of the blue! Thanks for looking in!
You have a lot of followers Earnest, so if someone leaves you have a greater chance of them being a follower of yours and you losing them.
Maybe there should be some kind of mechanism in HubPages that if someone unfollows they can leave a reason (though maybe we wouldn't be too keen on hearing some of them! LOL )
Hi Hypno, yes I often find it is a hubber who has left hubpages. I think it would start WW3 if people knew why followers leave!
Thanks for the thoughts.
i lost one yesterday and gained one today...so it is status quo for me...
I think I've perhaps lost one or two but I don't really think about it. It can make you think for a little bit but then it just goes away.
I wouldn't even know - I don't keep track of how many followers I have. Is there another way to tell when you lose a follower?
BTW - nice to see you again, Earnest!
Same here. I think after about 200, you stop counting... you must be the one exception, Ernest.
I better not unfollow you!
Nice to see you guys, it's been lonely in the sin-bin!
Hang on... something wrong with the stats. here I have 981, on my profile it's 979. Can't both be right!
Not apart from dizzy spells and the sound of an elevator going down.
Nice to be unbanned Lily Rose, you have 528 followers, if it goes down to 527 that's one lost! I don't know all ov my followers well, but most are known to me from their writing which I do remember. I only read hubs of interest to me at the time, but find many good hubs amongst my followers.
That's funny! You are GREAT at math. Thanks for the lesson!
I've noticed that my number of followers goes up and down sometimes. Sometimes I see in my hubtivity that new people are following me yet my number of followers remains the same. It doesn't bother me though. We gain some, we lose some... that's the way life is.
Okay, I admit that that's not entirely true. Hehe. ;D It does make me wonder if I've somehow dissatisfied some people.
Hey Earnest, welcome back. Don't know why you were sentenced to 'the hole' but glad to see your smiling face here again.
I was framed I tells ya! thanks, it's good to be confounding their tiny minds again.
I may lift the game up a syllable or too, that should clear most of em out.
I am never abusive, but have been known to be honest despite the risk of any facts contaminating the forum.
Hey Earnest me ol China, welcome back to the land of the living, now play fair and stop getting busted for 'shepherding' (AFL term ladies and gents) in the game will ya lol.
Ive found for each two followers I lose, I gain three, don't know how that works, but it just does.
Maybe they're too ashamed to be following you because you're just too awesome. So they go make two or three anonymous accounts to follow you.
Or maybe they just fell victim to a drop bear.
hahahahahahahahah
Absolutely right the both of you
...............plus I try and turn down my awesomeness here
IT'T NOT WORKING!
As a fellow Melbournite I know how hard it is to turn down awesomeness, it's impossible for we locals I tells ya!
I don't see how that logic can be denied.........
In the last week or so I've lost four or five...one at a time...and then have gotten some back, so now I'm, I think, three ahead of where I was before some started blinking out. Maybe I'm irritating some people while attracting others, or maybe there are just some old, inactive names (or inappropriately active) that have fallen off. I don't know, but I choose to believe that it's nothing personal and I'll find the right followers if I just keep right on writing .
You never stop counting followers, or at least I don't!
And I absolutely notice when the number I had yesterday is 1 (or, God forbid 2) higher than today's!
I am not above suspecting that any/all unfollowings are due to political differences
People might read my hubs and say, "Yes, she seems rational" but then see my "just shy of banning" tirades on the forums and say, "Oh no she's not, she's wack and she's 'one of THEM!!!'"
I think I said this on another post recently, but it IS great to have you back, Earnestshub!
Thanks MM I live to be followed. Willingly that is!
More followers, more hubbers reading my hubs, more comments, meet more friends etc. It's all good!
Haven't lost a follower yet. Which is good, since i'm only up to 5 ><.
There is no denying the thrill of having another follower, especially when they come from out of the blue. But oh, how sad when one slips away. I tell myself it wasn't something I said, just the hubber leaving the site. Let me stay delusional and celebrate the new ones as the old ones leave.

OK, it was only an old bloke sitting with his wife outside Priceline in the local shopping centre. I smiled at him and his good lady as I passed, and he asked.... "Don't you write about cars on the Internet?""Yes I do" I beamed." I read your article on the BMW 5 series...

A couple years ago in 2011, I had a hub on another account that went up to 5000 views rapidly. Eventually it waned to about 1000-1300 views. Now after a couple years it gets about a few hundred views a day astonishingly. Would that hub be defined as "going viral?" I know it's not...

There should be a quick and easy way for readers who aren't interested in writing to sign up and follow HubPages writers, topics, or niche sites without actually signing up for HubPages. I just had a reader say they really like PetHelpful and wanted to subscribe to the site. Unfortunately, the only...
