No, signups is not one of your URL trackers.

I only see your default one, currently.

      If you go here:
      https://hubpages.com/my/earnings/trackers

You can create new ones, if you like.

The syntax of your link is also incorrect. It should be:

      http://hubpages.com/_YOURTRACKER/profile/LivingWriter

You can insert your tracker and test it. The link should very quickly redirect to the original link (to your profile page). If it redirects to an error page, you've made a mistake in your syntax.

That link looks very peculiar. You will find your trackers here: https://hubpages.com/my/earnings/trackers

I guess, you can have a tracker by the name "LivingWriter." The default tracker, however, is just a random string of letters and numbers.

The "/_signups/hub" part of your link doesn't make sense to me. A URL tracker does not include such information.

To get people to sign up, create a link as follows:

    http://hubpages.com/_xyz/user/new

Then simply replace "xyx" with your URL tracker. Be sure not to delete the underscore, or it won't work.

The "share" botton is placed towards the end of the hub, usually beneath the comments field - the place to vote hubs up/down etc. Also, you can use the "link to this page" link, which is available at the very bottom of most pages around the site.

Website Examiner showed you how to make a tracking URL to the sign up page (for new people to immediately sign up to HubPages).

Jason showed you how to make a tracking URL to your profile page.

And this is how you make a tracking URL to your hub:

    http://hubpages.com/_YOURTRACKER/hub/Adventador

AdSense ads run in the background, they cannot be configured. Do not attempt to link to them, as that is against the rules.

So everything takes care of itself automatically?

Except you have to apply for an AdSense account, get it approved and activated before you can earn any income from there. Similarly with other affiliate programs like Amazon.

Hang in there, soon you'll be an expert.

Is that a promise, Website Examiner? I am so confused (a friend said I lit the fuse in the word "confusion" long ago. I'm finally convinced. I joined way too long ago not to be further ahead than I am. Last night, anticipating hp ads, etc, and having not even gotten that far before, I stuck with trying to get on AdSense and Analytics. All went well for a change till I hit that "paste your tracking," etc. Found the tracking info, but I just finally quit because I was sooooooo confused. Expert? I'd settle for being able to hook up. The tracking stuff is killing my brain!

Learning by doing is becoming an expert the hard way. About AdSense / Analytics, there is no tracking code to paste in. That is how it works for webmasters, not Hubbers. Here on HubPages, one has to enter the affiliate ID in the control panel, followed by a few other steps.

So I went at it backward? I've got to join Adsense; don't have an account. When I went to set it up, I was on Adsense, but it did bring up HubPages as the account, and I went from there. Control panel on HP? Where? If I go from HP, what's the affiliate ID? Wouldn't it be AdSense, etc., account? But can't get set. Looking at this, I must be so far off, I'll probably confuse you real pros! I'm totally Lost! Envy has never been one of my traits, but I'm truly envious of those of you who have conquered all this stuff, and really do appreciate the help. The tracking code mess last night came from trying to set up the AdSense/Analytics account, and it gave me a tracking code? Where did I go wrong? Besides just quitting!

That is the right way to do it, applying via HubPages, if you want to use your hubs as basis for your account. You currently only have one published hub, it may be better to have written a handful before applying.

Here is the link to part of the control panel I am talking about, Affiliate Settings. http://hubpages.com/my/earnings/affiliate

That is the place to apply, namely by clicking on the configuration button for AdSense.

For further details, see the Learning Center, http://learningcenter.hubpages.com/

    Also, see the FAQs, http://hubpages.com/faq/#adsense

The affiliate ID is the AdSense etc. account number that will be sent to you once you have applied for AdSense. It should appear in the control panel automatically once the setup process has been completed.

You can apply for and set up Analytics even without having an AdSense account. If you do, you can link it to HubPages by entering the Analytics affiliate ID in the control panel. Once you have gotten your AdSense account activated, you can link it to Analytics.

Website Examiner: Thank you so very, very much. You've totally given me the step-by-step instructs I needed. I'm not really stupid, just feeling that way. You've picked up exactly on my learning needs, and I am very grateful. I still may never be an expert, but if I get halfway there, I'll have this forum and you, esp, to thank. Appreciate the tip re pub'g more. I went at that backward, too! More written, not pub'd. Good point you made, just opposite to way I was thinking. Thank you so much for your help. I'm headed off to "work," now that I've met the wizard!

Point of clarification: The hubs should be published, or AdSense will not be able to take them into consideration when reviewing your application. I did not intend to distinguish between "written" and "published" here.

Thanks, CASE1WORKER. You are good at so many things.
