Vote for  what? Isn't this the same as advertising your Hub? I'm new and still figuring it all out.

If you check out the link above, there is a list of nominees for this week's Hubnugget award.  They are pieces of writing selected by HP elite from a particular subject area that are written by new comers to HP.  The community is then able to read and get to know some of the new writers on HP.  It is not self promotion, it is selected by HP.  You can read and vote for your favorite in a particular category.

      And, welcome to hubpages!

cardelean got it spot on, R.S. Hutchinson, this particular thread is part of the HubNuggets Program, a program to promote new writers on HubPages - you can read more about it at the Learning Center - and do check out the featured hubs, there's some good reading there.

You are right, though, there are only a few forums where hubbers can post links to hubs - Extreme Makeover, HubMob (now called Weekly Topic Inspiration), and the 30 day challenge threads.

Am I supposed to use Google Translate to understand these posts?  If so what language?

frugal family, nice to meet you - glad to see you've found your way here! Welcome to HubPages! Just as Squidoo articles are referred to as "lenses," articles written on HubPages are referred to by a special name as well - as "hubs"

The other references are to the article link at the top of this post - others have already visited that hub, or are about to, and their comments refer to reading the linked hubs and voting for their favorite new writers.

Every week one of the HubNuggets team gathers the hubs by new(er) writers, selected/nominated by the rest of the team into a round-up hub. The selected/nominated articles (hubs) are called "HubNuggets." Then the team member posts a thread (this one) inviting everyone to follow(click) the link in the first post to the round-up hub. There, they can read the all linked hubs and vote for their favorite hubs from among the nominees.

The HubNuggets project is a Special Program of HubPages to help promote new writers, and is explained in more detail at the HubPages Learning Center by Simone Smith, our Online Marketing Community Manager.

What should you do if your hub is nominated? Promote your hub - Blog about it, Digg it, Tweet it, Twitter it, post it on FaceBook.

Tell everyone you know, but please avoid posting your links in comments or forum threads! Tell your friends and family they don't need to join to vote.

Still not sure what we're talking about? Visit the learning center by clicking this link. You will find lots of info there about HubPages and its programs.
