Anyone else tired of this?

Some of the people I follow will follow 8-10 new people everyday.  This fills up my feed and distracts me from what I really want to see there: new hubs published by authors I like.  Can hubpages be like facebook and group them together by saying "User x is now following 5 new people" or something?
    Am I alone in this?

Can I ask, why do you follow those people?   Are they good writers, or did you just follow them back because they followed you?

On HubPages, you are supposed to follow someone because you admire their writing and want to be notified when they write new stuff.

If you follow people out of politeness, you'll find yourself following a whole bunch of idiots who are on HubPages to scam or spam.  They're the ones who follow large numbers of people indiscriminately.  You're not doing yourself any favours by following them (in fact your Hubberscore will drop if you follow too many people) so go through your list and unfollow anyone you don't genuinely want to keep track of!

You caught me Marisa.  I'd say I'm guilty of this...I don't follow my followers indiscriminately, but once someone follows me, I'm more likely to follow them out of courtesy.
Since I didn't have many followers (very few until last week),  my protocol was to see if they had simply one article I enjoyed and then I would follow them.
I guess I need to do some filtering of who I follow

One thing you can do, which might help, is to click the "filters>>>" button which is at the top of the feed section.
You can use it to only show hubs, or hubs and comments, or forums-- and select certain categories.

I'm new too, I had no idea I could do that. I haven't followed much people yet, but when I do this will help me from having 1,000+ emails everyday.

I always come in straight to "my account" to check what is going on with my hubs. I move to "forums" (using a filtered list) as and when I wish and occasionally check "my profile" if I notice I have a new follower or need to get back to a forum topic where I posted. In this way, I never ever have to worry about all the stuff on the home page, which is of no interest whatsoever to me.

Yes, there are many ways to get to the same place here. You learn as you go. I still don't understand Facebook-- but just because I haven't taken the time, and don't really want to.

Well, I'm not new, in fact I am probably old... but I just kind of found it by accident.
Nevertheless, I allow all of them, because I like to see what's going around.
The filter button only applies to the feed, (I think). but comments you make and answers you post, can be unfollowed. Also, I choose the once a day notification of new hubs from those I follow.
Just play around with some of the buttons and you'll find out what works best for you.

Now-- I could check the "follow this forum topic", but I won't.
I will check "your" when I visit forums so I can see if anyone has posted to the forums where I have posted. It will be when I choose to, not when I get an email.

I tried to filter everything out of that new home page so it would show nothing (but stuff kept showing up).  lol  Maybe it's me, but I don't like stuff being "fed" to me.  I want, instead, to go find what I want to find (or else stick with my own business and find nothing).  I kind of operate with my profile as a "home base" (where stuff like comments shows up), and I come to the forums, start with the first page, and scroll for any threads I'm interested in.  If I can't find them, then I'll go to my own Hubtivity and find whatever it is.  If I'm in the mood to read Hubs I browse for something that catches my eye.

I did like the old thing where we'd see that horizontal row of people we follow, who'd written new Hubs; but the old home page is gone, of course.

All I know is that even if I try to select filters for any stuff that's "fed", I've yet to have anything fed that catches my eye.  I need to go looking, see something on my own, and operate that way.  (The first thing I do on any site where I am is to figure out how to turn the home page into little but a big, empty, page.   lol   Maybe it's me.  hmm  )
