When I get a notification that someone has posted new fan mail and I click on the link it goes to a list of my fan mail which appears to be in reverse chronological order.
The new fan mail isn't even there! I have tried looking on every page of my fan mail. The new fan mail isn't on the first page (where it should be) or on the last page. It's not there!
Anyone had this problem? I know it's not something I reset.
But I sure would appreciate knowing how to get new (as yet unapproved!) fan mail to show up!!
Thank you, MM
Oh that's easy. Just to the "my account page" then click on the "activity" tab. From there, you should see a list on your left that gives you an option to view fan mail that you've received.
I should have mentioned that the same problem happens when I do exactly as you've described.
Basically, no matter how I access my "fan mail" I can't get to the new fan mail that needs to be accepted.
It's crazy and frustrating!
But thanks for the good advice, stevennix!
Can't help, because I'm having exactly the same problem!
And I haven't reset anything either.
Same here! I see the number rising but can't find the newest fans listed at the top of the page where they used to be. Must be a glitch?
Well, glad to be in such esteemed company, anyway!
I hope they get it resolved. It's just one of those crazy, inexplicable things that is probably fixable by the flick of a switch!
Thanks, Paraglider and Peggy W.
Hope your fan mail accounts get corrected soon! MM
I sent fan mail to you 40 hours ago that has not been approved. I'm so glad I saw this forum post. I was beginning to think my deodorant failed or something.
Yes, I saw the notification, Quillographer!!
I didn't want to sound conceited by saying "oh, there are dozens of fan mails I can't access and approve."
But even one is too many!!!!
Honestly -- I CANNOT find your fan mail!! It is simply NOT THERE or is hidden from view.
I can't even follow my nose to it, it's that far hidden!!!
But I do thank you very much for the lovely words I'm certain you've written about moi. . MM
MM, try your profile page with recent activity and click the link about so and so leaving fan mail which hasn't been approved.
It should take you to the fan mail.
Hi rebekahELLE.
I have tried accessing from "My Account" "Activity" "Fan Mail" and that ends up in just a list of fans (starting with Sweetie Pie, who I've known the whole time I've been on HP!)
I tried doing as you suggested and accessing from "My Profile."
There is no "recent activity" regarding fan mail at all.
The only notification I have that someone has left me fan mail is the email I get. I click on that link and it takes me to a general list of my followers. NOT to any NEW followers who have left fan mail. In fact, I cannot find those new followers in my list of followers at all!!
And actually, even my "comments" count is incorrect as well.
So weird.
I know it's a simple checking or unchecking of some setting. But I know I didn't change anything and I have been unable to find any menu (or any reference in any HELP pages) to fix this.
But thanks for the suggestion!!
MM
Hey Mighty Mom,
You can try rebekahELLE's trick, which involves checking your own hubtivity:
http://hubpages.com/profile/Mighty+Mom/hubtivity
On that page, you should be able to see an entry that says something like "Quillographer has left you fanmail which is unapproved"
There should be a hyperlink somewhere that will take you directly to the fanmail, where you can choose to approve (or deny) it.
There's an issue where our system isn't sorting the fan mails correctly right now, which is why you don't see unapproved ones at the top of your Fan Mail page (which means, the unapproved fan mails are actually somewhere in your list, but you may need to scroll every single page to find the unapproved ones...). We're working on fixing this, but in the meantime, feel free to use the trick outlined above.
Hope this helps!
I am doing that but now I get a message that I do not exist
This is a shame.
I took a look at the hubtivity, and it seems that you were able to approve 2 of the fan mail from the past 3 days (that I could see).
Did this error message show up every time you tried to approve a fan mail, because it appears that you were able to at least approve a few.
Hello ezhang,
Thanks for the interim fix. Yes, that works.
I see that there are not too many fan mails sitting unapproved, but I have now approved them.
I will do it through Hubtivity for now, until you get it corrected.
But this will work for now.
Thank you!!!
MM
I have been having the same problem - thanks for asking the question, MM, and thanks, ezhang, for the work-around.
Is there ANY chance of getting the old Hubtivity back? I used to be able to access it through the HubPages thingie above, but now all I get is the feed, which I really don't like...
Sorry MM--I don't mean to change the subject--but I posted something about this last night, and didn't get any replies...
Thanks for suggesting that, TamCor! I agree with you. I hope we get a response on that....
Thanks, MM
The fan mail issue should be fixed now. When you go to your fan mail (http://hubpages.com/my/activity/fanmail) you should now see the new fan mail at the beginning of the list again.
TamCor, we currently don't have any plans to support the Hubtivity on the homepage again, but you can always access your hubtivity by going to your profile via the my profile link on the top of the page, and then clicking See more of <user>'s Hubtivity to view your own hubtivity.
Gosh darnit! I was so excited to think this was all behind me.
Alas, it is still the same problem.
Different follower now coming up in #1 position, but nonetheless a long-standing follower, not the most recent....
Is it just me (not that I am accusing HP of singling me out for persecution )????? Thanks, MM
Unapproved fan mail that you've received will be shown at the top now (yay!).
Fan mail which are already approved are currently still in random order... I'll see if we can get that fixed as well.
Ok,thanks. Don't have any unapproved fan mail today to test it out .
Yes, it would be very helpful to see most recent additions to followers right up front, rather than having them randomly interspersed with other followers.
Hope that's not difficult to do... Thanks!
MM
Check your fan mail page again, it should work now
Yippee skippy! It's all fixed!!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

There should be a tab for sent messages or sent fan mail. I cannot find this anywhere on the site. Thanks!

Hello all. I just approved a couple of fan mails, but they don't show up on my profile. I noticed other people have their fan mail showing on their profile. I have looked through all the settings but can't figure it out. Help me if you can. Thank you!

I have some fan mail, but whether I press accept or deny I am told there is a problem and I may want to report it. What do I do now? thanks, John

Do you like fan mails that indirectly or even directly say follow me.. do you approve them?
by tlpoague 13 years ago
I am not sure if I am filing this under the right forum, but I was helping my mother yesterday set up an account for HP. She joined to be a reader instead of a writer. I approved her fan mail she sent me, but when I looked at it today, it was gone. Is there a flaw in the system here or is it...

Might be a brain fart here, but I have a couple of fans I'd like to leave fan mail for...how do you find that option? TX in advance.
