I have found a few places that I can make some cash online

    Freelancer.com
    Elance.com
    Odesk

I have seen some sites that offer cash for taking surveys, participating on focus groups, product reviews and telephone surveys. Has any one made any money doing this? Can they be trusted?

I have tried many sites that offer money for taking up surveys (but none among the list mentioned above). I found it as a spam. So my advice is not to waste too much time on taking up surveys. You can instead try PPC sites.

The list above is are not for surveys, they are for article writing and other admin work.

        Thanks for the advice.

I don't really know about 'trust,' Cardisa, but I tried some of these and was overwhelmed by the request emails-more than 3 a day-and did not make any money at all!

Thanks, I was thinking that the survey thing was a waste of time anyway.

My son made $55 last month just from Inbox Dollars. I've been at it over a year and haven't made half that much. He is in his early 30's and I'm in my 50's. He qualifies for all of the surveys and my age group doesn't. You should try them.

Cardisa, I am currently taking surveys online. They are fine. I take surveys on three to four online site occassionally and I have earned some cash from them. I personally prefer the ones that pay cash because there are some where you earn rewards or points that can be converted to cash. To me that is an extra step I do not need to do when it is easier to be paid in cash instead of rewards or points. Here are a few I am currently on right now:

      Surveyhead.com
      MyView.com
      www.inboxdollars.com
      www.rewardport.com
      www.surveyspot.com
      www.mypoints.com

These are all legitimate sites and I haven't had any problems with them. I hope this is helpful.

I've actually done online surveys for years.  It's not a lot of money, but it can add up over time.  You have to pick and choose where you do surveys carefully.  Many are spam.

I also suggest cashing out at the minimum.  I had one site I was building with--very reputable and had received payouts many times--but then I had a medical emergency and didn't log in for a couple of months.  They closed my account for inactivity and I lost $150.  Now I cash out whenever I hit the $5, $10, $20, or $30 payout.

Would you mind giving the name of this site...please. Maybe I could try it out.

Let me put together a list and send it to you privately.  I can give you a little more info on each company without taking up way too much space on here.

I sent those survey lists out.  It's just the ones I like and why I like them.  I can give a much bigger list, but...  To do well with surveys and not suck you into a big dark hole (because they can be boring), I like picking 3 - 5 and doing the best I can with them.

I didn't add my points on there, but since someone else mentioned them, I will add that I do use my points.  I don't do a lot of the surveys.  I find I often spend 20+ minutes "qualifying" only to say I don't qualify, so it usually isn't worth my time.  I just feel I better get full compensation if I spend that much time on a survey.  I do like them though for other reasons and have been a my points member since 1998.  They are very worthwhile, just not for surveys--in my opinion.

Nothing for actual cash, but I do one site that rewards hotel and airline miles or points.  Have cashed in and saved some money and it is well worth the time.

      Bgpappa;

Can you give us the hotel and airline miles site? That would be great.
