Just published my 199th hub, folks. I did nothing special at 100 hubs. In fact, I have no idea what my 100th hub even was...
In any case, I feel like I ought to mark my bicentennial, since this time I actually noticed approaching the big round number. And since I'd never have made it this far without the community, and being the Community Manager and all, I wanted to see what kind of ideas you guys had, and see if I can't incorporate one or more of them.
So place your vote! What do you want to read in my 200th hub?
Maybe you could write a Hub about great Chinese food restaurants in San Francisco? That sounds yummy to me.
Shake it up, Maddie. Don't write a hub that will make money, write something wild and wacky, something "fun", a celebration hub!
I recommend porn of some kind. You need to go to the dark side, just once. Pretend Darth Vader really was your father, you know? Let your hair down and assorted other clichés.
Maybe you could write about five really funny situations, events, cartoons, videos or other that made you laugh so hard that you could barely contain yourself. That would be cool.
...for Shadesbreath, at least one might be humorous porn. lol
Great ideas, guys. Keep 'em coming... I need as much inspiration as I can get!
No, seriously, you should force yourself to the opposite pole. It's kind of like I need to stop messing around and try to write some hubs that might actually register on an SEO scale or something (see how far I have to go still LOL).
Write a hub on why dripping hot candle-wax is an aphrodesiac.
Something like that.
Ha! It isn't! (or so I've heard)
But yes, I agree it should be like an Anti-Maddie type hub...sort of like Good Kirk/Bad Kirk. Like perhaps (evil grin) things you would have like to have done...but given your position on hubpages you wouldn't dare do because it might set a BAD example to all the rest of us.
So I'm gathering that what's needed is a sort of inside look at the mind of non-moderator Maddie... That seems to be the theme in suggestions...
Would it work to write a retrospective of the first 199 hubs?
I'm imagining something like the hubber's equivalent of one of those sitcom clip shows that adds some new content while looking back on past episodes. It could be wonderfully random, jumping from caramel apple recipes to inspirational quotes to webkinz lists. Throw in a few of the funniest/strangest/most interesting comments you've received over your first 199 hubs and you may have a winner.
I'd love a personal look at Maddie hub but seriously, now that I think about.....
Yeah, tell us why we make no money!
Explain how someone like me w/ 200 hubs and 100,000 views still hasn't made his 1st 100.00!
That's what I want to know! How to make this all worthwhile...
I make adsense payouts every month. Trying writing on hobbies and how to articles, that has worked for me.
There's got to be more to it that you're not telling me.
I total of $59.16 rom Adsense since starting.
I can't believe I actually told my wife that we could make money thru this place.
My hubs don't even get any traffic when I do make them so....
Yes, I'd like to know why 109,000 page views is getting $59.16 only. Hmmm...??
if you know out there, inquiring minds would really like an answer.
Hi Maddie, here are my suggestions for your 200th hub:
Maddie Ruud Revealed
Personal Secrets to Success
When I Let My Hair Down
My Fantasy Life that Never Was
Sex and Maddie
My Love Affair with Food
DJ, I only have around 27,000 page views but due to your question I checked out my adsense and it's around $42. So I believe your 109,000 views should be getting more. Hmmmm (again.) Yes help. Calling Misha please! Maddie? Sweetie Pie... Anyone?
Earnings-to-pageviews ratios vary widely from user to user, partly because they depend a lot on subject matter. Ads on certain topics pay more than others. It also depends on what angle you take. If you are writing hubs geared towards people who are actively searching to buy something, those are the kinds of people who click on ads. People searching solely for information, or just browsing to kill time, are less likely to click ads.
Make sense?
Maybe it is about time I spell some of these things out in a hub.
It helps if you throw in the odd evil, furry animal.
I found that when I wrote about crafting topics that these do well. Also, I promote my hubs on crafting forums and part of my adsense earnings are from my own website on art crafts and tips. So what I make is a combination of Hubpages and my own website. I have devoted a lot of time now to making jewelry and writing about it in the future, and some people think I spend quite a bit of time doing that. However searching the net I have found there is an interest in scrapbook, crafting, and jewelry making, and those people are likely to buy products, hence maybe why these topics do well.
I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. So what are you up to these days?
Hi Sweetie Pie, I'm still curious what Maddie will write for her 200th hub.
I also visited your hubs last night so I could post it in my ripplemaker blog - a topic on Fun Stuff You Can Do which I haven't finished yet coz my eyes were already hurting. We are on our 2nd to the last week of classes and trying to organize the sem ender presentation for the kids, organize the teacher's team building session and finishing a curriculum for the next quarter. At night, I am too exhausted to think anymore. Hope all is well with you too.
It's coming, I promise. Last night was hockey, tonight's the debate... I'll have to write it tomorrow, I guess, because there's more hockey on Friday.
Hi Maddie, LOL ahhh we can wait. As I look at your avatar, it just makes me curious, what made you smile like that when the photo was taken. It is so full of laughter and love and light. It makes me want to smile back.
What about a secret submission link that allows to hit #1 in Google for any given term instantly and forever?
A 30-day trial is welcome
Okay, folks. Sorry it took me so long, but I quickly discovered that once I got going, I have way more than one hub's worth to say about making money on HubPages. It's going to have to be an ongoing project... but the first and second hubs are now up and running!

Well, summer is fast approaching here in sunny Florida, so I've been busy clearing as much area as possible to grow an organic garden. Florida betony, by the way, has an ubiquitous root system! Today I'm feeling a little fatigued, and if any of you have casually checked my Facebook posts, you'll...

Do you think it's better to post an OK hub every day, or a really good one once a week?

I'm sorry if this post offends anybody, but I am really getting tired of people who basically are non English speakers showing up, throwing a hub together without expending any effort to read the forums or the learning center to find out what they should be doing, and then asking for help to...
