Does anyone have any tales, that you of hubs that you are willing to share, where the number of views surprised you?
I wrote a short hub (250 words maybe?) that got 2000 views overnight. It currently gets a couple hundred or so..
I also had a hub that went over 2500 views, but it was only temporary. Most hubs that went real high get a few hundred now.
I also almost got 50 views in one day on a niche that I find hard to get a lot of views on.
I was shocked to see that my hub about Illegal Street Racing received over 100 views in the first hour of being published. Now it only gets about 20 views per day.
Other than that, I haven't really had any other shocking moments here.
David 470 and CWanamaker,
Thank you. I had a few hubs that are steadily performing better than other hubs. They did not explode;but, they are doing better over time. There are a few whose views skyrocketed and then stopped for a while. I would like a few more of the steady performing hubs myself. My two best performing hubs are:
1. A collection of limericks that I was not expecting to do well
2. An Ice cream recipe. That was a field I thought was too overcrowded.
The thing they have in common is a lot of Google traffic.
This isn't astounding like some of the hubs others are talking about, but I have one that gets 200-300 everyday. The hub just hit on a popular idea that has little competition. I wish I could find some other ideas like that one.
Thanks for all of the great experiences. I appreciate Ya'll dropping by.
I've been amazed at the level of traffic to some Hubs. I think of hubs that get 100 views a day as hit hubs, but there are hubs that consistently get over a few thousand views a day!
I have a hub that got 1200 views for 24 hrs in April, and then disappeared from the face of the earth the next. lol I checked traffic sources and I had 1600 views from Bing.. so amazing since normally I get 20 views or less from Bing. But as I had said, it only lasted 24 hours.. that was definitely a fluke. Another hub, went to 1000+ views a day after the last Panda update, but has since gone back to 200+ normal daily traffic. Other than those two hubs, out of 116 hubs, there are no other traffic explosion.. plunges yes... last Saturday alone, I lost 600 views. I was so relieved to see that I only lost 50 more views on Sunday. Weekends are usually slow, but never that slow.
I'm surprised on different days to see which hubs are getting the most views.
I've been amazed at my hub about teaching values to young children receiving so many views, and it's all search traffic. It was one of my early hubs written because I was agitated from a forum thread!
A few others also surprise me, it's fun to watch. One of my composer hubs got picked up on his FB fan page and then was posted on a songwriter's forum. Those are the fun rewards that surprise us and make HP a great place to write. I find that social media can make a big difference with views, FB likes, etc. People find you that may not have without the exposure.
a year or so ago, my hub on Tim Horton's burnt coffee was somehow involve in some type of Facebook spam thing (which wasn't of my doing).
for a few weeks, my views jumped from a handful a day to hundreds.
of all those views, I didnt get one single click
Without giving away the subject. I had one that I thought was a decent hub that sat around and did not much of anything for at least six months......and then all of a sudden it was getting fifty or more hits from Google.com every single day.
....and it did that for at least a month.....
....and then went back to whatever "normal" is for an original hub.
Without giving away the subject matter, unsaid hub is also the only hub I've got that ever got scored as high as a perfect one hundred - which it was at for a day or more.
I wonder how individual Hub scores reflect performance. I am under the impression that it is more reflective of expected earnings.
You might be right! I've no factual thing to say. Hey, I'll send you an email about it.
Maybe we need patience and faith in our hubs ability to attract views. It would be easier if I forget they are there.
I wrote a hub about 4 years ago that got featured on the Yahoo home page it recieved over 10000 in 2 hours .....jimmy
How does one get featured on homepages?
If you don't mind me asking, what type of hub was it?
The topic was featured on yahoo and my hub was around 3rd in the search for that topic to be honest it was so long ago i cannot remember which hub it was but i did post in the forums when it happened.....jimmy
Just found it sorry I lied, was 3000 in 2 hours and 10000 in 24 hours.....jimmy

Okay, I hope this is no too late. Here is what I do. I upload the video to you tube. The video capsule supports you tube and several other services. To load it onto the Hubpages capsule you will need the embed code off of YouTube. Go to your video click on the share button and copy the embed code. It is labeled and you cannot miss it.
Every single one of my hubs that are my top performers have been total surprises. They taught me not to overthink or disregard ideas that come up....just publish them and see what happens. Some of my best researched (for keywords, etc) have been flops.

What was the first Hub you wrote?

In a forum I read recently someone commented that Google looks down on your subdomain if it contains many poor articles. But how do I tell which is considered poor? Can I tell by hubscore? Some of my hubs are in the 60s, but have thousands of page views and others with fewer views are scored much...

I have a few hubs that I wrote about 10 years ago when I first started writing on hubpages that are not very good. They are pretty thin on content and get little or no traffic now. Some of them have even been unpublished due to lack of traffic or for quality. I am not disputing that they are not...

Could non-performing hubs that are not getting views (and have never got many) be affecting how well my other hubs perform? Should I delete them and unpublish them? My traffic is not in a good position right now at all and I am trying to figure out what needs to be done. Last year around this time...

Do You Delete non Performing Hubs?
by OSBERT JOEL C 9 years ago
I have published more than 30 hubs. Of those almost 5 hubs have just 5 to 10 page views a month. More over the hub score is also low. Is deleting those hubs a right decision?
