Is anyone else being driven mad by insect bites at the moment?
Is anyone being plagued by insect bites? I've never had them as bad as this. It's driving me mad! I've looked on the internet and it seems i'm not alone in feeling like this. Anti-histimines don't seem to make any difference.
Yep, I must be delicious to unseen life forms. I wouldn't mind being something else's meal if It didn't leave me lumpy and itching for days. Recently half my left hand swelled up,I was worried I might have to have my wedding ring cut off after some little blighter bit me. Your question has reminded me that on a foreign holiday, I took garlic capsules,as I'd read they could help fend off bites. It did help, once I remember about it. Maybe I'll try that again now.
The itchiness is hideous isn't it! I've got bites all round my ankles. I think it may be Cat fleas as 'Frontline' the stuff that used to work brilliantly seems to be no longer effective!
I'll try the garlic capsules. Thanks for the suggestion!
try sprinkling food grade diatomaceous earth around where your pets sleep, your bed, on your bed, in your carpets and where ever else you think you are getting bit. dust your pets with it. make sure you wear a mask so the powder isnt inhaled by you. it works fairly quickly and by abrasivly scraping of the insects (all insects) waxy coating, they then dehydrate and die. a friend wanted me to read a book, i brought it home and stretched out on my bed and opened it up and a few pages in ai saw a bug. i killed it and alarms were going off. a couple of pages later i saw another bug. i slammed the book shut, threw it in a bag and ran outside with it. i was positive it was bedbugs. i came back in and completely dusted my bed. i already had several bites swelling up on my wrist and forearm. that night with great trepidation i crawled into bed (i had no choice there was no where else to sleep) but the DE must have worked. no more bites. i have since used it on my pets to control fleas and on other unwanted insects with great success. the best thing about it is it is not a chemical so i need not worry about it around my pets.
Thanks. I think it's fleas from my Cats. The frontline that used to be really effective isn't anymore. I've been told to buy Advantage from the vets instead. I'll try the diatomaceous earth on my bedding and carpets.
The only problem I have here is with mosquitoes, I'm listed as a fast food fly in for them.
I bought a bug zapper light for the bedroom and it pops several time every night but I haven't had any more bites since I installed it.
Avon "Skin So Soft" is pretty effective as a repellent and is nice feeling as opposed to the nasty feel of most Deet based repellents.
If you think there might be fleas but haven't seen them fill a bowl part way with vegetable oil, heat it in the microwave to about 110*f and set it on the floor in the middle of the room. Turn off any lights and come back in 30 minutes. If there are fleas, or most other biting bugs, there will be a few in the bowl.
Borsia, when I lived in Thailand I was plagued by mosquitos. My hand swelled up so much it looked deformed! It calmed down eventually but it would seem mosquitos and fleas find me particularly tasty!

I've been experiencing a drop in traffic for the last week or so. I've been seeing a lot of people in the forums talking about how they are seeing increases in traffic, but I am seeing the opposite. Is anyone else seeing a drop in traffic?

You know. That flashing ad that says something like: "This is not a joke - you are the 10,000th visitor." I very nearly threw coffee at it this evening. It's the most irritating ad I've seen in my life. It clearly is a joke and a naively dishonest one. Any chance it could be replaced with...

I'm appealing to anyone who lives in a warm climate to help me out. Something in my garden has plagued me the whole 7 years I've lived here in spain. It's very small (and my eyesight isn't too good - I wear glasses), it's dark in colour, and it draws blood when it bites. I don't know if it is a...
