We should learn from them first and foremost how not to treat other people.
The parts of ourselves that we would not have to face otherwise.
Enemies are very useful. At least, intellectual enemies. Someone that thinks in a way opposite to the way you think will naturally be very good at pointing out flaws in your argument. Even if the "flaws" they find aren't very important, maybe a small mistake in word choice, or a minor mistake, you can still use what they say against you to improve your own argument.
