Something small she once mentioned that shows you really listen. My girlfriend once told me she loved hula hooping as a girl, and as a side to her main birthday present I got her a hoop. I think she appreciated the fact that I had obviously listened and remembered what she said, even in the most casual of conversation.
the more expensive the better... a nice ring would do or some earrings
Not necessary that it should be very expensive but as my fellow hubber MALCOLM said try to recall one thing which she likes the most....... and gift her that.
I agree with Malcom. My boyfriend, who was just my friend at the time, paid attention to the fact that I love to bake but always had to borrow an oven mitt from other dorm-mates, and for Christmas, he got me oven mitts. Little things--not necessarily expensive things--that show that you pay attention to the things she likes and the things she does are the way to go with most girls.
