It depends on how boys uses social Media.
On the other hand everything is in the hands of the person who uses the social media.
It could benefit as well as harm him....
It is just about making the right use of the faculty given.
And if they want they can improve their levels of literacy..
But in today's case, the language used i Social Media is always the chat language....So they aren't learning anything from that media......
But yes other social media provide good information to boost literacy levels..
Social media does have it's advantages, and boosting literacy levels might be one of them. From my own experience, gaming for my little brother helped him overcome reading problems, so it is assumable other online social communication could have a similar effect. On the other hand, social media also promotes (whether it wants to or not) a particular language of acronyms and short cuts (2nite being my favorite). These types of things could actually be very detrimental. I agree with sagarparikh12 about the importance of who and what really determine the benefits and consequences.
