I think what a lot of people really fear is change.

That is a big part of both being afraid to live and being afraid to die!

I believe more people are afraid to die including the most ardent religious followers. It's common hear people thank God for being on earth another day as opposed to living it up in Heaven with no cares.
    hmmmm
There's truth to the old adage:
"Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die." smile
One of the reasons why many folks are afraid to "live" is because they are worried about (dying prematurely) because they took risks!
Therefore being (afraid to live) is a form of being (afraid to die).

Hmm, I don't want to go to "heaven" and I don't want to die either. But if I thought heaven existed, I WOULD want to die! But the religious have an "out" - they say that "god" has a purpose for them here on earth. They can't die until "he" calls them

And sometimes when he does "call" they do their best to ignore the ring of the phone! smile

I am afraid of death because I think of all the chances I would miss! All the places I could still visit, all the books I could read, the family I could created, etc..
I think it does matter the reason why somebody is afraid of death, so he can answer if he is afraid or not living.
I am not afraid to live smile

Many people are afraid of pain, physical and emotional.
So they are reluctant to act or move out of a comfort zone (live) as much as they are to die.
