What is your favorite thing about Snow and Winter, and what is your least favorite thing....

Favourite thing about it - when it goes away and spring (the best of the seasons in my opinion with nature wearing its new coat, and the birds are courting and nesting - I am fascinated by birds in all shapes and forms) takes over!

Least favourite thing - walking on icy footpaths and being worried about falling and injuring myself again (I fell and broke my shoulder on a train - nothing to do with winter - two years ago). I walk everywhere normally - it's great both for exercise and observing the world close up (and for watching birds!). This morning I went out into something that I had never seen before either since I moved to Germany or before that - ice patches resulting from freezing rain overnight (no snow, just ice).

Treacheous! The walk to the local supermarket normally takes about 10 minutes. I was lucky to do it in half an hour. Safely - thankfully. It meant taking the bus back though.

Yes me and Ice have not been friends the last few years either.....Took a fall and broke an arm one time, about seven years ago, and twisted my ankle last year....

Winter is my favourite season so I have a lot of favourite things!

There are few things in life that calm me more than walking in freshly fallen snow with those big beautiful snowflakes still falling all around me.  I find it so peaceful and beautiful and it really helps me clear my head.

I love playing in the snow with my daughter and my dogs and coming in and warming up with a nice cup of hot chocolate.

I also love the colourful twinkly lights that are everywhere in December/early January.

And I have a strong preference for winter clothes.  Nothing better than throwing on some cozy layers.

I guess my least favourite thing would be when it gets so cold that it literally hurts your face to be outside.  I usually do pretty good until around -20 degrees Celsius, anything colder than that and I admittedly get a bit bah-humbug about the weather.

Oh and it can be tricky to walk around outside if it dumped a bunch of snow and it hasn't been shovelled yet.  Especially with a stroller! (That brings me to another thing - I actually LOVE shovelling.  It's a good workout and it's so satisfying.)

I LOVE winter!  All my favorite sports - skiing, snowboarding, ice skating - are winter sports.  I handle extreme cold better than extreme heat.
What don't I like about winter?  Driving snowy roads.  Since I've never lived in snow country, I never learned how.  But that's it!
