The Mariana Trench is by far the deepest trench in the Pacific Ocean. It is a U.S. Protected Zone and a part of the Mariana Trench National Monument established by President George W. Bush in 2009.

This is a wonderful acount of The Mariana Trench where ocean explorers have dived deep to discover interesting life and marine creatures. I thoroughly enjoyed this article, Fran. Indeed an amazing read.

Rosina, I so appreciate your visit.  It's amazing how little we know of our oceans.

Pamela, I've never heard of the Mariane Trench. That it's almost 7 miles deep is an indication that the worlds oceans would on the average be 3 miles deep.

Thank you so much for your visit.  We have so much yet to learn about our planet and the oceans.
