One of the hardships of being a Psychology student/graduate is that you know the facts - about mental health, interventions, and that the thoughts in your head are not real, but it still gets into you.

I just want to say that you'll never know what a person is going through, be good to one another. And if you are going through something right now, you're not alone.

Such a lovely and vital message. Sad that no one responded to you, but I guess that's how the world works nowadays. People seem to care less and less for each other.

Such true words, Justine. Mental illness is often invisible and more people are suffering some  form than we realise. Thank you for sharing.

The reason this may not have generated much comment is because it really isn't posted in the right forum. This space is for writers to discuss their craft and to offer help to beginners. It's not because we don't care.

That said, Justine's comments are very important. Just about everybody you meet is struggling with something you know nothing about. We all need to extend kindness, compassion, and patience to one another.

The first sentence of your second paragraph is very important as well as kind. We don’t know what other people are going through and should be kind whenever possible (and safe). I have a particular person in mind as I say this. I see a man almost every day sitting outside one of the shops in a local shopping centre and recently learned about some of his problems.

I’m a little confused about the meaning of your last sentence. If you mean that people are not alone because other people have similar problems, then I agree. If you mean that they are not alone because someone is available to help them. I think getting that help might depend on the person’s background or culture and their willingness to share their problems with other people.
