It is amazing that Anatoli Bugorski survived this, and that one side of his face (affected never aged.

Ravi has created a very intriguing article. I wish more details about the event that's he's described had been publicized. I would love to know more about the biology of the situation. I'm glad that Anatoli survived the event, but it would be fascinating to know more about how having his head inside an active particle accelerator affected his brain and his life.

Thank you for sharing Ravi's article, John. It's going to stay in my mind for a long time.

I think his 7th and 8th cranial nerves got damaged… That’s what caused his symptoms. No wrinkling is a consequence of the 7th cranial nerve damage… facial paralysis….similar to what happens when you inject botox. He got lucky to have a localised lesion.
A very interesting article! Thanks, Ravi, and thank you, John, for sharing.

Really amazing. How can a person survive such a high dose of radiation?

Thanks, Umesh. The fantastic part is that he finished his doctorate successfully after that without any significant difficulty.
