    Hi John,
This was a stunning article full of poems, quotes, short fiction and images. I loved them all, with special emphasis on the first poem. You mentioned you were struggling with this word prompt. Kudos to you - you made it gracefully!!

Thanks for sharing John's work, surovi99!! Appreciated!

John, all three of your works caused pensive thought even without knowing the prompt - sacrifice. I have always appreciated your natural talent as a poet and writer.

That was a mighty big, 'but', with the last stanza and, yes, gave cause to pensiveness. It struck close to my heart. Sharing, over the last year or so in my time of retirement I have reflected upon my life and the should's, would's, a could's all of which are central to sacrifices.

Today, reading your poem specifically the last stanza it hit me like a brick falling from above. Yes, I am experiencing grief while contemplating whether it was worth it or not. Yet, frankly, for whom? So, now I have more introspection to do with a new perspective. Thanks!

Maybe, I will write about it about one day. wink

Tim, I greatly appreciate your generous comment. It amazes me how something we read can have that profound affect on us. Often something very unexpected, but just a phrase or a word or two, really resonates or forces us to contemplate a situation. I am glad the last stanza of the poem did that for you. I hope it has a positive outcome. If so, I hope you do write about it.

A wonderful collection of poetry and short flash fiction that brings out different facets of sacrifice and forces us to dwell on its importance in our lives. We learn so much from sacrifice, and as you have rightly said, if a sacrifice is not causing grief, it cannot be called sacrifice in the true sense. Thanks for sharing your collection as a great answer to Brenda's prompt

THhanks, Rosina, for sharing John's work.

Hi, Ravi. Thank you for reading and commenting on this article. I am glad you agree that true sacrifice can only be claimed as such if it has caused you grief in some way.

I with your poem about sacrifice, John. Sacrifice does involve some pain or loss, even if it is just a loss of time. Your short story, the quote and your acrostic poem further define sacrifice. Well done!

Thanks for posting John's article, Rosina.

That line..." When it's done because of love"...yes, that's what makes us do it. Loved the poem, John! It sums up the concept of "sacrifice" very well. Thanks for the prompt, Brenda. Thanks for sharing it, Surovi.

      Hello Farah,
“Love” needs to be the catalyst behind many of the things we do, and especially many types of sacrifice. Thank you for reading.

Very powerful John! Every piece fits so perfectly together, relaying the message.

It is such a great feeling when the words began to flow and your mind can finally rest...til the next experience or challenge, starts the process all over again!! smile

    John...
    Wow!  Your piece is great.

    At first your
poem takes us to the depth of the meaning of sacrifice.

    But then...
Your piece about the woman totally leaves us without words.

It seems so real.  So life Like.
Hard to imagine anyone gives up their own life...but yet it does happen.

Then you close your article with a well fitting acrostic poem.

Least not forget...that piece by Veronica Roth ~ love it!

Thanks so much for the compliment about the word prompts I supply...but the true applause needs to go to everyone who writes an article from one.

    Great job.

Thank you, Brenda. I am so glad you enjoyed these pieces. I had trouble at first but once ideas started to form the writing seemed to flow. Sacrifice was a terrific word to use as a prompt.

    Hello John,
I loved your response to the word prompt, sacrifice. The many dimensions of the word is well crafted in your first poem, and the acrostic poem is to the point and impressive.
    Excellent and creative as always.
    Thank you for sharing.
