   Do you find the 'Ultimate Fighting Championship' entertaining? Or should the UFC be banned?
   
   Ultimate Fighting Championship, the most violent "sport" on Earth. Do you agree? Do you think that it's time to ban it? Or are you a big fan?

   Personally the only sport that I liked that involved 'fighting' was the WWE- which explains why I put fighting in inverted commas. I used to like the story lines and seeing how the writers would conjure up surprises and how they moulded certain characters, creating heroes and villains. Of course, the fact that its fake doesn't mean it isn't dangerous as the wrestlers routinely suffer injuries and some such as Eddie Guerrero have even lost their lives in the ring.
   
   I'm not really into the UFC, but banning it would set a precedent and would lead to some calling for other fighting sports to be banned. Even though I'm not into fighting sports, banning them would be foolish, because we humans have a primal attraction to violent spectacles; that's why Roman gladiatorial contests were so popular and why many of us enjoy car racing, because, while we don't normally admit it, we love watching a good crash- we can't help it.

   Bring it on, especially the babes. It's not just the UFC. And then you have Strikeforce, and what would be the fight that would intrigue me the most. "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey getting it on with Christiane "Cyborg" Santos. Hey, I like the WWE. I also like cartoons. What could be better than a Rowdy Ronda v. Cyborg match? Could Ronda put that big roid arm of Cyborg's in an armbar? Could Cyborg mess up Ronda's pretty puss? Ah, this is what legend's are made of. Oh sure, mixed martial arts should be banned. So should the NFL and NHL.

   I'm personally a big fan of UFC.  I love seeing the most skilled fighters (who are also athletes, by the way), push themselves to their limits.
   
   It's important to realize that the UFC is mostly a combination of sports that are already present in the olympics: boxing, wrestling, judo and tae kwon do.  I have never heard an uproar about these sports being in the olympics.  UFC also permits ju-jitsu, which is not in the olympics.
   
   People do get injured fighting in the UFC, but many people claim that it is in fact safer than professional boxing.  In boxing, you can be knocked out but then recover and continue to take blows to the head.  The additional head injuries after already losing consciousness can result in profound and permanent damage.  This is not a risk in the UFC because because once a person becomes unable to defend themselves, the fight is over.  The same can be said about a comparison between UFC and football, by the way. 
   
   All this being said, I do think that some fights should be stopped before they are.  I have seen some gruesome injuries that should have resulted in a stoppage but didn't, and that upset me.  When this occurs I feel that the UFC is not acting in the best interest of the athletes, and is reducing itself to selling a spectacle instead of a sporting event.

   I love Ufc. As a kid I liked boxing, but wwith boxing you rarely get a chance to see the fights you want to see. With ufc I can see most of the fights that I have wanted to see

   It's sort of a white trash spectator sport, isn't it? I don't find it entertaining, though the fighting techniques are interesting to learn about. I don't think it should be banned for violence, unless you want to ban football too.

      I don't think I'd entitle the UFC as a "white trash spectator sport". With all due respect, Old Empressario, the UFC has come a long way since its unruley beginnings. The organization has flourished into an amazing collection of professional talent.

   The UFC, brutal as it may be has come a long way since its first days. I agree with several of the other commenters that if you ban the UFC, you'd have no choice but to ban many other pro sports as well. Also, the UFC has gained so much popularity and is now bringing the large media networks so much money, that its prohibition is basically impossible; nobody's gonna cut a major profit like that. At this point, it's largely poitical.
   
   But it sounds to me as though your question was directed more towards the ethics of the UFC. I don't feel that there's anything wrong with competative fighting, period. I don't think that the motivation for the individual fighters should be to cause death or irreversible harm to their opponents, but barring that, I don't see anything wrong with pro fighting. Remember, these are professionaly trained fighters, some of the best in the world. The UFC contains highly trained, professionals, not unversed, street brawlers with a chip on their shoulder. The overall atmosphere of the UFC is one of professionalism, not brutality.

   I am a fan. It is MMA, mixed martial arts, mainly Jiu Jitsu mixed with Kick boxing, it could include also bits and pieces of various such as American Wrestling. In recent years they have rightfully brought in more rules, which is right and necessary. They had a difficult beginning. It tends to be quite violent. It has tremendous street value. This is what Martial Arts evolved into. ON the street, of course, more tricks are allowed, lethal and brutal tricks, and it becomes cruel and inhumane, but when your life is in danger it could come in handy. I would suggest Umpires, Referrees, rules. I would like more rules put in. I do not believe in "human cock fighting." I believe in ethical sportsmanship. I really believe more so in soft touch practice sparring, throws, and what nots. There is a dark, nasty side to MMA, for sure, no doubt.

   I personally believe that if you don’t like it don’t watch it. Why do people who have no interest in martial arts feel the need to ban something that has absolutely nothing to do with them?
   
   My husband is a fighter and I love the UFC. My husband used to participate back in the days when UFC was hardcore and there weren’t so many rules.

    I don't find it entertaining because I have not really watched it.  Maybe if I watched a bunch of fights I might like it.  However I don't think it is the most violent sport and I don't think it should be banned.  Banning it when people still want it would be a bad idea.  People would still fight but the fights would be more dangerous.  At least with boxing and UFC they make it as safe as possible.  They want the fighters to be able to fight again.  Take away the cameras, lawyers, security, managers, professional fighters etc. and people are going to get really hurt.
    
    While I am not a big fan I don't think it should be banned.  If people stop watching it then it will go away.  If it is banned people will still watch fights but the fights would be more violent and more dangerous.  The thing I like most about it is the bodies of the fighters.  They are in great shape and have probably inspired some people to improve their own bodies.

    I like watching mixed-martial arts and the UFC specifically. The fighters are truly athletic and versatile in what they do, so "violent" is relevant to the many aspects of combative sport included.
    
    You think this is bad? Well in its earliest days it almost did get stamped out. But with reorganization and better rules and safety regulations, the sport has arisen from its ashes. Thus, we get the exciting and growing sport we have today.
