Hey, Much-Appreciated Followers,
Of the two, count them, two actors that played "Floyd," the barber on the Andy Griffith Show, which one was your favorite?
A. Walter Baldwin, the older of the two with gray hair that was seen once on the show
B. Howard McNear, the one who stayed with the show until the bitter end.
Your choice.
Let's see who wins!
I only ever saw Howard McNear, so I'll vote for him. Thanks for telling me about the other actor!
Patty,
Thanks for your vote. Now we have early results:
McNear -1; Baldwin - 0, and Pink - 1?
I prefer the dark-haired Floyd, only because he's the only one I've ever seen on the show. His voice fit the role, as did his appearance. He just seemed like a small town barber to me.
Interestingly enough, there's a place called Floyd's Barber Shop in Orlando. They have a billboard underneath the store name where they post cute little ditties. For a while, it was "Hairway to Heaven". I thought that was quite clever.
Thank you kindly, bravewarrior,
I too liked Howard McNear/dark haired Floyd and for the reasons
that you list. He and Andy were also close friends. Thus when he,
McNear had a stroke that paralyzed his left side, Andy insisted that
he be kept on the show and a special brace (that is never seen) be
built so he could rest that left arm on it while in scenes.
I would love to see that billboard and I love that slogan, "Hairway to Heaven."
LOL! Sure. Pink Floyd. I should have known. I love "Money," by PF, but the real "Floyd," rest his soul, would not know what we are talking about.
Or would he? Bahahahahah.
You are wise, my friend, Jodah.
NOTE to all who love this type of forum: There will be more Andy Griffith Question/Poll questions coming just over the next hill.
Stay tuned.
Dean Kenneth: Boy, what a question! I guess it can be answered only by young squirts who watch reruns. I remember a "Floyd the Barber" but not that much about him, so technically, I can't vote. However, I'll answer just to let you know that I read your question. Have a wonderful day, my dear friend.
Hi, sweet MizBejabbers,
Cool response. Hey, I am always thrilled at the fact that you read one of my forum questions or hubs. You will never grasp just how much I appreciate and love you.
Now you can stop blushing.
Howard McNear. I do remember Both but Howard has it all the way.
I have to agree with you, faith-hope-love.
And yes, I try hard to be unbiased.
Definitely Howard McNear. Always enjoyed him on the show.
Gypsy Rose Lee, thanks for your input and you are one wise girl.

I can't resist but ask this: Don't you think Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd is still the greatest album that was ever made, influencing generations upon generations of music lovers, protroding an exquisite musical taste?

Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin? If there were a retroactive "Battle of the Bands", and the last two standing were Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, who would you choose? I have seen them both live in concert more than once each over the years. Pink Floyd has incredible showmanship and incredible...

For the longest time, my favorite bands were Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode. Pink Floyd mostly because my older brothers liked them a lot. Well, most recently I am into Stereophonics and UNKLE. Stereophonics is a British band with catchy tunes and they do a lot of story telling. UNKLE is a...
