I miss adam west from the TV version. I used to watch the show religously. For the more recent movies, I'd have to say Michael Keaton rocked it out.

I agree, Michael Keaton was the best in portraying Batman in a movie.  I like the new Dark Knight versions but Christian Bale overacts and disguises his British accent poorly.

Val Kilmer was also a bad fit for the role

Em, No.  I disagree.  And Christian Bale is Irish, I believe.  I also think he out-Americanizes many Americans--or at least does a reasonable facsimile.  And sorry, he looks...er...like that, and has that natural dark thing, so he has my support. wink

He totally, completely reminds me of my friend Hodge (no longer going by that name, so safe to post, lol), so NO!!  Ewww.

He "out-Americnaizes many Americans'" exactly what I meant by overacting.  No Doubt Christian Bale is a good actor, from Wales,UK according to IMDB anyway.  But I'm sorry, this new Dark Knight would be great if not for Bale's lisp.  Maybe it's just me that hears it, but I don't think so.

Keaton first, followed by Bale. Kilmer was indeed a terrible pick for the role.

The newer installments are of much better quality than the earlier movies, in my humble opinion.

The Christian Bale movies are much more realistic, if a guy in a bat suit can be considered realistic.  But I like him the best.  The cheese factor has been eliminated, plus he's pretty darn good looking.

He deleted his account, as documented in the forum entitled: OMG the lil red button, or something like that.

He also had a mouthful of nasty things to say about some fellow hubbers, myself included. Not sure what I ever did to him, but apparently he hated me.

He liked you, MangoGirl, mandybeau, and a few select others though so you must have done something right CJ! smile

Yeah, gotta clarify that I actually like Bale's acting better as well as the films he's in BUT Keaton's jaw looks so dag-nabbin cool in the cowl.

To me, there can only be one Batman; and that's Adam West, from the tv show that was on when I was a kid.  There have since been better looking and "cooler" Batman's (Batmen?); but they're all imposters!    cool

    1. Guardian1 profile image63

You tell em, Lisa. Adam was very sexy and a class act.

Well, I'm a bit young for Adam West as Batman, but Adam West as mayor of Family Guy is pretty awesome.

Hands down, it goes to Michael Keaton.  No consideration needed.  Of course comparing the Tim Burton movies to the Steven Spielburg movies is probably an act of insanity, but I like the fantasy feeling in the Tim Burton movies.  I like the new ones to be sure, it's a refreshing look, and the darkness in it is a more terrifying one.  Now when talking about the bad guys of the Batman series, no doubt, Heath Ledger.  Him as the joker was delicious!

Adam West will always be Batman to me...a true cultural icon.

As for the movies, Michael Keaton was the only good batman.

TV's Adam West rawks. He's much cooler now in Family Guy, I think, though.

Keaton rawked, but it was Tim Burton's overall take on the thing that I loved.

The other ones kinda went...weird, like a mix between Burton and the 60s schlep, which works best when watching it with the banter of rifftrax.

I'm all for Batman Begins and Christian. Anyone who can do some gnarly gunfu's got my vote.

Oldest Batman film I could find. Not the best but the most interesting due to age of the film. lol  I like Adam West and Michael Keaton.

I'm staying with Christian Bale.  It may not be him as much as the role that he had but I like the depth of his Batman.

    1. RooBee profile image79
RooBeeposted 14 years agoin reply to this

I have to agree. I love the dimension of character (hey- Batman, like many superheroes, is a complex guy) in the newer movies. The older ones were fun but in a really superficial slapstick kind of way.

That said, all (original series and all the movies) are good and are such different takes on the story. Apples and oranges. smile

I liked Adam West on the tv version, but the movie version favorite was
    Micheal Keaton.
Adam West 's character was campy and dark at times, while you wouldn't expect Micheal to be serious.
I was hard to watch him as a sexy batman ,knowing all the while ,in the back of my mind, that he was "Mr.Mom!" LOL smile
