I just heard the news.  So sad.  May he now rest peacefully.

I just saw that, and even though we knew he has been seriously ill for quite a well, it's always crummy to read that someone (especially that young) has died.

I didn't believe it at first, because a lot of the websites said that it was just a rumor and that was actually alive. But then someone gave me the link and I saw for myself. So sad. sad

Condolences to Patrick Swayze's family and fans. I heard the news to say. Though his passing came as no shock to me (I knew someone who died of pancreatic cancer), it's no less saddening.

He's 57 years old - too young to die. I loved him in "Ghost".

One of my favorite quotes from him was "nobody puts Baby in the corner." from Dirty Dancing.
    What about all of you?

Can't think of a quote but maybe a scene in Ghost. I love the part where he kissed Demi Moore when he was saying goodbye (at the end of the movie). It was soooooo tender and loving. smile

Patrick Swayze had a lot of memorable performances.  North and South and so many more.  He was a very good actor and will be missed.

That sucks.  It seems about the time for a lot of the actors we have been with to start passing away.

They have been dying like flies since last year.  I wish the best for the loved ones he left behind. sad

I was always sorry that Travolta got the part in Grease that SHOULD have gone to Swayze (who was a hit in Broadway in the part, apparently).

I was never a big fan of Swayze as an actor, but I always wished I could have seen more of his dancing. He didn't get to show his full ability in Dirty Dancing - except at the very end when he did a tour en l'air which gave the only real hint of what he could do.

He always wanted to do a Fred Astaire-type movie but could never get it off the ground.  I know he did one ballet film but he was really too old by then.

I agree with you that part should have gone to Swayze, John Travolta's dancing technique was a little rigid when it was made he didn't flow like Swayze would have I wish I could have seen more of his dancing to, his mother was a dancer so he had a gift. You are also right about the ability to act and I wish they would have created a fred-Astaire type of movie but nowadays it probably wouldn't have sold. I enjoy dance and watching Dancing with the stars ever season I have decided this fall to take up ballroom dancing it has been something that I personally have always wanted to do. My husband also agreed to join me once he gets through his chemo treatments and gets his health back well that is what we are both hoping for. smile

I read it this morning on cnn.com and actually cried - weird, 'cause obviously I didn't know him - I think it was just the cancer connection.  I loved him in so many movies - Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Road House and wasn't he the big brother in The Outsiders?

    RIP Patrick
