I think it's either Georgia or Texas. I've counted almost 30 with Georgia in the title or lyrics. Texas has a bunch, too.
So sorry...it has been Texas and always will be Texas. California is a not even close second
California maybe?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_so … California
I betcha California. I mean, not many of them feature Maine or Rhode Island, right?
California! Someone here has written a number of hubs detailing just a few of them. (sorry, don't remember who)
I'll have to recuse myself on this one. Can't get "OKLAHMA!" out of my head, and I'm pretty sure that's not even close to the riht answer.
Oh, thanks a lot, ghost. Now I'm singing Oklahoma...where the wind comes sweeping down the plain...
Apparently (if these people are correct), Texas. I did a quick search about states with the most songs (just out of curiosity):
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_US_stat … n_about_it
Thats a good question I have no idea but it would more then likely be a southern state with alot of country singer roots in it. They are always singing about their state.
I thought it would be New York with California a close 2nd.

I've got the Beach Boys refrain going around in my head "Wish they all could be California girls"
OH MAN!!!!! I wish I was a CA girl!!! Stuck with East Coast, keeping my man warm at night...at least Im hip?
I like CA and with all its problems, it's still nice to hang out at the the beach.
I'd almost bet on Texas, all those old cowboy songs and then the modern Country singers too. *clap-clap-clap* Deep in the heart of....
There's gotta be a zillion country songs around Texas.
OH the yellow rose of Texas....drat! Now that's in my head.
Yea, I'd believe Texas has had the most songs written about it. That's not the question tho - it's which song has been mentioned the most.
Like I said, rap pretty much ensures Cali takes this one...
*"When I die...Well I may not go to heaven...'Cause I don't know if they let Cowboys in. If they don't...just let me go to Texas...'Cause Texas is as close as I've been!" (*Song performed by Tanya Tucker, 1978)
I can remember songs with Georgia. California. and Texas. I know that there is a lot more but these are the ones that come to mind. Good question, got me thinking now.
Ha! New Jersey!!! ( just wanted to see if anyone was paying attention)
But seriously...there were SOME songs about New Jersey. "Boardwalk Angel" from Eddie and the Cruisers. I think Bruce Springsteen has some songs.
Look you all have done so little research on jut your best guesses. Mississippi has 100s of songs in every known genre and by the greatest artist of all time, beginning with BB KIng and ending with ZZ Top. Texas comes close but leaves all the others in the dirt. Don't forget baby this is the home of the Blues!

What would you do if your state seceded from the United States as a whole?Recently I saw that about 20 states started petitions to secede from the U.S. and I'm curious what other people think about that.
