    Personally, music does not help me concentrate at all. I find that if I have to focus on something I need total silence.

    Not at all. I get caught up in the music, even if there are no lyrics. I wonder if some are helped by it because it is more like just white noise to them--those who are less drawn to music.

    Sometimes, when it is basically white noise in the background, it can be helpful, by drowning out the other petty annoyances that can prevent you from concentrating.

    Yes, it does. Typically, the more distracting the average person would find a class of music, the more focusing it is for me...! Ha!

      I'm autistic. I need something to sort of occupy the parts of my mind (and quell the OC thoughts) so that I can focus on what I must be doing. Plus, I can never actually find total silence, music is less distracting than my alternatives.

    yes it can especially if the music is pleasing to me or does not have a noisy background. It makes my mind calm and focus on my work.

    yes, but only quiet or instrumental music.  I an concentrate even more when I have a movie or tv show running in the background.  However, if it's very energetic music with vocals, than I usually have to turn it off or play something else
