If you had complete control over the media, which television shows would you cancel?

It doesn't just have to be a scripted show but it could be a talk show or a reality television show.

Anything involving Tyler Perry. Most of the daytime hype talk shows like Oprah and Dr. Phil, Jerry Springer (if it's still on) and the like. Probably a lot of reality shows, though I admit I'm even entertained by some of them. A lot of the mainstream news programs that don't really report everything that needs to be reported and mostly do fluff pieces. I'd replace those with true journalistic news programs and, no, not weird off-beat ones.

"Keeping Up With the Kardashians". Boy, do I hate that show and everyone in it. That family defines everything that's wrong with our society these days.

      A show indeed.

Just about every reality show ever created. They are lazy and exploitative, and are collectively making Americans dumber by the second.

Couldn't agree more. I don't watch any of those.

I know millions would disagree with me but I would cut in half the number of reality based TV shows...

Hmm, I don't think I would cancel anything. Every show is loved by someone and I'd hate to cause the pain of cancellation! I'd sure as heck bring back a few beloved shows though, such as: Firefly, Dead Like Me, and Reaper.

That's easy, the court room show "Judge Judy". I can't stand her or her voice.

I agree, I forgot about that one. Definitely needs to be nixed.

I would cancel all of fox news and replace it with anything else.

All reality and talk shows, all "talent" shows (American Idol, The Voice, Dancing with the Stars), and NBC's new series, "Dracula".

    This is a great question.
    - I would cancel any show where their only intention is to make tons of money at the expense of the viewer or the subject of the show. (Any scripted reality show, Talk shows.)
    - I would cancel any news show who strives to make tons of money by scaring the hell out of its viewers.  (Asteroid hits, Global warming, End of the world scenarios)
    - Watching sport events with budgets that rival the gross national product of some small countries sure takes the excitement out of the game.  Besides who wants to watch 12 minutes of commercials every 14 minutes.
I for one have gone back to watching old movies on Netflix and reading a good OLD book these days.

Except, those sports events employ thousands of people all over the world, and help stimulate the economy more than most can possibly imagine....

Pretty much 98% of MTV's programming..."16 and Pregnant", "Teen Mom".  That sort of stuff.

I'd cancel most reality shows and practically every tween show on Disney and NICK. I would also toss The Vampire Diaries to the curb, along with Dr. Phil, the Rachel Maddow Show, The View, The Five, The Factor, FOX Friends, Tosh.O, Nikita, COPS and anything at MTV that isn't an actual music video. Oh, and I would take Grover off of Sesame Street and give him his own show..on a different and much less boring network.

I love Grover!  Oscar the Grouch is my tried and true favorite, but Grover was my best bud as a kid!

Any and all reality television shows.  As I understand it the original reality show was MTV's The Real World, a show that was created when MTV wanted to create a soap opera but didn't want to spend the money that a soap opera would require.  So, from the beginning, reality programming was a cheap option.  The idea that the public says this is good enough for us is kind of sad.

Absolutely, cancel all reality shows. Most agree here, they are the worst shows ever!

There are so many bad and annoying shows that should be taken off tv...I would start over with a clean slate and only include the best ones.
