Hey folks! I'm trying to find out what songs eveyone thinks sound better acoutically or "unplugged" than the original version. So far, I'm going with "Down in A Hole" by Alice and Chains and "Stillborn" by Black Label Society.
Forgot, "Black" performed by Aaron Lewis
Down In A Hole from the MTV Unplugged sessions is amazing.
It has to be Eagles Hotel California. Lots of good guitar players.
BTW: One of my favorite rock songs where the original is played accoustically is Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here". (I know it wasn't asked but I added this one for free
)
I have another one. Lake of Fire by The Meat Puppets covered by Nirvana
When Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora did "Dead or Alive" accoustically on MTV awards many years ago....legendary!
Anything from the Tesla acoustic live album.
Tesla "Love Song" Acoustic Version ♫ http://blip.fm/~lp3dr
'Down in a Hole,' 'Lake of Fire' and 'Hurt' are good shouts. Cash did a pretty good cover of 'Rusty Cage,' too. ![]()
Page and Plant - 'No Quarter' was pretty good as an acoustic version.
So was Soundgarden - 'Like Suicide.'
0Interstate Love Song ~~ Stone Temple Pilots
Plush ~~ Stone Temple Pilots
So you're an STP kinda girl. HOT! LOL
all the songs I would have said had already been picked... so can I add?
Eric Clapton's MTV Unplugged version of Layla
'over now' alice in chains
'nutshell' alice in chains
all of their songs are amazing played acoustically.
i'll think of more..
a few more..
Norwegian Wood~ Beatles
Iris~ Goo Goo Dolls
Something in the way~ nirvana
Yeah, the whole AIC unplugged was pretty awesome!
I forgot all about there being an acoustic version of Iris out there thanks!
Something In The Way is awesome, but the cover of Where Did You Sleep Last Night on MTV Unplugged is sooooooo good.
nice, I was just thinking I was going to listen to youtube videos. thanks for the suggestion. the entire unplugged show is really great stuff if you like their music.
under the bridge~ red hot chili peppers
What was that great piece by Eric Clapton...you know...he make sthe guitar talk ![]()
hello rebekahelle how are you this fine day, hope you are well ![]()
hi, I'm doing great! thanks for asking. ![]()
I would have to add stairway to heaven here, although the entire song isn't acoustic, but that which is is SO beautiful.
I just wanted to add that KISS has a great version of "Beth" on their MTV unplugged CD. This version of Beth is totally different than the original, and I thinks it's better.
U2's acoustic version of Angel Of Harlem from The Zoo TV tour.
Cornell's Unplugged In Sweeden bootleg is pretty freakin' sweet.
Like A Stone (Audioslave), All Night Thing, Call Me A Dog, (Temple of the Dog), Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden) are all amazing but his cover of Thank You (Led Zeppelin) is an absolute stand out.
Wrote a hub listing my top 10 picks. Sorry I didnt include everyone's, but you know how it is.
I went out to see Nick Lowe a few months back and he did a great solo acoustic version of "What's So Funny About Peace love & Understanding". Before that I had only heard Elvis Costello's version.
Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones is a great song to do on acoustic
I came here to post the beginning of Stairway to Heaven, too! Wow!
The first thing that came to mind for me was "Hey Hey My My (Into the Black)" by Neil Young
0I tried to think of one but then I realized that Acoustic guitars are an abomination.

Rock in its pure form. Not pop-rock. Not country-rock , nor any other rock. Rock for Rock's sake. You may have an entirely different set of songs in your list. For, there are really 100s of pure rock songs. But what do you feel about mine? The numbers 1 to 10 here do not mean a thing.1....

What are some good acoustic guitar songs?Kindly recommend me some acoustic guitar songs to play. (rhythm guitar playing)1. Actually I'm in a mood to play some sad songs (lyrics wise) on guitar.2. Songs like WONDERWALL (Oasis) or YOU & ME (Lifehouse) are most welcome (whether sad or not)...

Exactly what is your definition of New Age?

Do you like the original versions of songs, or their covers better?I hear a lot of mixed reviews about this topic. Personally, I tend to like the originals because I feel like they have more meaning.
