Do you guys let your kids stay up till midnight on NYE? Do you have any NYE traditions?
I do let my daughter stay up till midnight. The only tradition is opening the bottle of champagne (we don't even like it), and my daughter likes to make a lot of noise with pan lids. Then we just go to bed
We let our kids (age 7 and 12) stay up till midnight, if they can last that long, haha. Last year the older kid made it, but his younger bro fell asleep on the living room floor around 10:30. I felt kinda bad for him, he tried sooooo hard but couldn't quite hack it! Haha
Sadly I don't have any traditions since I work a lot on New Years. Usually when I'm off husband and I have a bottle of champagne and the girls have the non-alcoholic apple juice version. We used to have a first night with a lot of events and a bonfire and fireworks at midnight. But after a few years they canceled it due to funding.
Yes. I will say i'm pretty strict when it comes to my son's bedtime. But NYE is the exception. Not only does he enjoy spending the extra time with his friends, but for me, it's just the right thing to do to ring in the New year together...as a complete family.
