as long as it's not overly stale or moldy yes. In fact "day old bread" can be great for making croutons, stuffing, french toast, or crumble it into bread crumbs for other purposes etc.
Absolutely! There are even stores that sell day old bread. It can be frozen and kept for a long time in that state. As long as it has not turned moldy, it is fine. ChristinS gave some good examples of how to use it.
Bread will keep good in the refrigerator well past the expiration date.
If the 'best buy' date isn't to far away then it should be fine! Day old bread won't kill you just don't eat it if it's moldy though, I guess thats kinda common sense!
