I'm saved!

   Yes, I am saved.
   
   From homelessness, that is.
   Don't get all excited, I still have not found god.
   
   My salary was reduced, as some of you know. I have not been able to afford my rent, and I do not have nearly enough money to get into a new lease - believe me, I've been trying like crazy. I'll be out of money toward the end of July - no more rent from me, no more roof for my head.
   So, I put my notice in at work and started packing.
   
   I've been looking at a big move - to a new city in a new state. But before I started sending the résumés I made one last desperate move.
   
   Turns out, I qualified for help from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Lots of help. MSHDA saved me.
   
   I found a real estate agent who KICKED ASS and, in less than four days, I bought myself a new house. Thanks Lynette!
   
   No BS - I paid less for this house than the cost of one month's rent at my apartment.
   
   
   
   I explained to my boss that I don't have to leave now that I have a home, and I didn't even have to twist his arm to let me stay. He is as relieved as I am, I think.
   
   PHEW!!!
   Now, get back to writing, you slacker. (I haven't even done a hub for the contest yet this week!)

   We'll have a HubPages house party - BYOB and also BYO-chair. I sold a lot of stuff when I thought I was going farther away. hee hee
   
   ediggity - yeah, the lawn is even bigger in the back. Luckily - huge coincidence - this house is two blocks away from my buddy Bill. I told him, hey, I'm so close you can just ride right over... on your lawnmower.

         Bring enough beer, I maybe won't notice the bible.
         
         The house is still innocent - I haven't moved in yet. So I think it would be safe.
         If you brought a bible to my apartment though, I think it would start to singe and smoke...
         
         
         kidding of course, I actually own one myself. It gets very very dusty, but no spontaneous flames in the presence of a non-believer.

      That is my new favorite phrase earnest - "you fell and landed back on your feet."
      That's exactly what happened!
      
      I was wishing last week that my dad was still here. He was my Advice Giver, and damn did I need some.
      But when I qualified for the mortgage, I realized he had already helped me out. I've always kept my credit score high, just like he told me too... and that is how I managed to make this whole thing happen.

      Wyandotte has a collection place for grass clippings for compost. Actually, it's not too far from my new place - I won't have to drive across the city to drop them off

      I haven't even cried yet. I'm still kinda stunned.
      This time last week, I had no options.
      
      You know my liberal attitude, Randy - I've always said that despite fraud, mismanagement & what-not, government programs do still manage to help folks who genuinely need and deserve it. I think I just fell into my own category.
      
      That's not to say I'm OK with all the fraud, mismanagement & what-not...

         I understand completely, wyanjen!  It is a shame there is so much waste in some programs, but you seldom hear about the people like you and many others who deserve and get assistance.  But there are many who would not like it even if there were no waste and corruption at all!  Sad!  Unless of course, they ever needed help themselves.

            For a minor short term investment, the state of Michigan has just converted a vacant property into an occupied homestead which will produce long term tax revenue.

    Never ever pick up your dog's feces from the grass as they do in some bigger cities.  It makes great fertilizer!

          At my height I gotta take all I can get even with the help of fellow hubbers who make brilliant suggestions concerning the modification of my avatar. I'm a big boy now! I'm even potty trained! Yet, no, my nipples are not pierced and braided.  OUCH!!
          
          The concern and thought of aimlessly stepping in canine feces is at least revolting.  I agree, that would be grounds for calling it a bad day in the neighborhood.  Perhaps you could just let the grass grow.  You know, give it that "lived in" look.  That way you'll have more time to spend ingeniously constructing hubs!
          
          May your path to your castle be free of incident and cleansed from all feces and impurities of the impure world of Lassie, Benji and even Bugs Bunny's Sheep Dog.  So let it be written - so let it be done!

    Glad to hear your good news. This is way better than a mood-elevating pill. I'm sure you are breathing a way deeper sigh of relief. Getting rid of a lot of old stuff is a great way to start anew. Live zen.

       I have enough mugs that I could go two weeks without running the dishwasher - and I never use less than one mug a day. hee hee. I'm on my second right now.
       
       Getting rid of old stuff has been very good for me, actually. Something that I've always kept because I'm sentimental, even though it didn't even get unpacked when I moved 4 years ago... really hard to get rid of but afterward, it feels pretty good. I can't explain why!
