I have just been on a Forum, where people are being called Wankers and told what to go and do in no uncertain wors, there wasn't any moderation obviously.
I ran away. But do you think, that there should be any limits on this type of thing. I mean no one knows each other really, so the insults are sort of pointless.

On this forum or another forum?

If it is here then do as Relache suggests, use the Report link. Or run away. Your choice.

The report button exists so that you can assist admin by alerting them to things that get out of line.  They are just a group of humans after all, not omnipotent demigods.

I fully realise that Relache, but some people don't want to go that far. (reporting people)
I doubt the Site would have had alot of omnipotent demigods on it anyway.
There was obviously no moderation, as I said and cerainly no report buitton.

you mean they were nearly all wankers !!!   big_smile big_smile big_smile

I find a good response is to ignore them or laugh at them mostly, we only have a few of them on Hubpages and most of them are harmless usually.

A much better system than going to those places is to leave those forums to their inevitable death :p

Once you have a couple of posts like that then people think it is okay, the admins stop moderating them and the whole forum suffers.

Someone called me a 'wanker' just the other day, but I didn't feel the need to report it.

No I certainly would never report anyone. That seems a little bit over the top too!

When all other options fail, use common sense.

Mentalities and mindsets of each and every human differs from others uniquely. We find this kind of abuses in many of our daily activities. We just have to maintain the temperament. Just report administrators who will take care of those issues.

Is "wanker" a really bad thing to be called or something?

It wasn't on this Site. Definitely not, but I guess wanker was used in the sense, that people use the "term", in the place of something like idiot, in short anyone that wasn't agreeing was termed that or worse.
It put me off the Site, so I s'pose, as someone said it will be the end of the Site, for anyone "normal"
