This is going to seem like an ignorant question, but how do you get search terms for your hub?
Should I just add a bunch of tags, everything that I can think of?
It might be part of Hubpages problem right now. My all stats stopped working. I wrote a hub last night and now it still hasn't registered word count, never mind categories. Also RSS capsules and text capsules seem to be on the fritz.

Jeff, where are you talking about "search terms for your Hub"?
If you mean the new feature on our Hubs, where HP lists search terms ("keywords") alongside total stats and Hub Metrics, then that is not something that you get. Those are the terms that people have already actually used in their searches that eventually landed them on your page. Those are valuable to us, because we can see (1) what words we may want to emphasize in the first 1-2 paragraphs of the Hub where they are found and (2) some ideas for other Hubs. These are things that people have been searching for, so there is some sort of demand for them (although possibly not enough to justify a new Hub).
On the other hand, if you are wanting to find some good keywords to use to guide people towards your Hub, there have been some very helpful forum discussions recently about that topic. Run a HP search on "keywords," restricted to forums, and you can get a great deal of info.
One of the recent discussions included an excellent link that helps in searching for keywords, and I have lost it! I can't find the forum; I can't find the link in my URL history on my hard drive. I'll keep checking and respond again, if I can. In the meantime, check out at least these two recent forums: "Keywords (Again!)" and "Backlinking My Backlinks."
'Jeff, where are you talking about "search terms for your Hub"?'
I'm talking about the Stats feature at the top of our hubs. I click on Stats --> Keywords and search term data shows up in the frame.
Some of my hubs have search terms listed, others say "no search terms found for this hub."
This seems odd to me, because traffic has come from google to the hub in question.
But your explanation is very helpful, Aficionada, many thanks. I'll do a forum search.
Cheers!
Is this the link you were talking about:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Keyword-Researc … -Automated
It's been un-published, apparently.
The link I am looking for is a part of Google "Adwords." But it is not the main page. The link goes to a page in Adwords where you can run a search of keywords and see what the most popular ones are, which ones are competitive among advertisers; and you can even get a rough idea of how much they pay per click (or at least, that's what I was able to do - when I used the link that I can't find now).
Hi again -
It took me a little while to find the specific link I wanted. In the forums section, I searched under "Google Adwords Keyword Tool." Try doing that (for more info than I give here below); be prepared: I got 194 hits. The more recent ones probably have the most up-to-date information. Here's the forum where I got the link: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/41460#post963503
And the link I mentioned, which is so, so, so helpful:
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
It does not require a password or account number, but you do have to solve a Captcha to enter the site. There is so much information there, it may be overwhelming the first few times you look at it. You can enter a keyword you want to search (box on the left); you can restrict by country, language, etc. You can even ask it for keywords that might pay a certain amount - but I can't describe right now how to do that.
Anyway, this will give you: a list of keywords related to the one you're researching, whatever it is; a key that tells you how competitive among advertisers the words or phrases are; how popular these words/phrases are with people who search for your subject. It's really a goldmine of information, but you will probably need to read a lot of the forum posts about it (from more experienced Hubbers) in order to get the best benefit from it.
Best wishes!

Why are no search terms and keywords recording in stats? For the last week or so, there don't seem to be any search terms sources under my stats. I used to find it helpful to know what keywords people are using to find my hubs. Are you having the same problem?

I looked under Stats/ Search and it says "Search Term Sources not available" for all of my Hubs. Is this a new "feature" or am I looking in the wrong place?
by kmackey32 14 years ago
Or not? I mean the kewords there are not listed in the keywords I put for the hubs.

I keep checking a hub's stats hoping to see Keywords show up, but they still haven't 14 days after I've published it.It's getting plenty of traffic from Google. I don't know why the Keywords section is still blank.Any ideas?

When I look at HubPages stats and click on Keywords why does it sometimes say "no search terms found." On other hubs there are several search terms. In case you need the title of the hub, it's "Surviving the Death of a Spouse."

Why is search terms data gone? That was a very useful feature for determining what people are searching for when they find your hubs and I haven't been able to use it for a long time and any of my 60+ hubs. Why do away with that?
