Yeah the anti-christ will mock God by sitting in the temple as if he were God. (2 Thessalonians 2:1 -5)
Oh, I almost totally forgot Mike,
I was reading in the other thread about the building of the 3rd temple, however the conversation went.
My question is, didn't God say not to build another temple? I think I recal God saying that after the temple was torn down, not to rebuild.
So about that Holy Rock over there in (Israel??? or is it Jeruselem???) weren't they "not" supposed to have even built the synogog (or is it Mosque) there to begin with?
Well in Matthew 26:61 Jesus tells the scribes and Pharisees that He is able to destroy the temple and rebuild it after three days. Obviously Jesus was speaking metaphorically about His resurrection after three days. When the earth quake that happened when Jesus died on the cross "the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top even to the bottom, and the earth quaked, and the rocks were rent" (Matthew 27:51). And by the time of the revolt against the Romans every last stone was removed from the temple by 70 AD. The Book Of Tobias is an apocrypha book but in Tobias 13:12 it says,
To me that clearly relates to what you mentioned in the other thread that the separation of the lost sheep was from God, not the land.
Anyway the anti-christ will sit in the temple for 42 months before he is overthrown. If you do a search with this Bible for 'two and forty months' or 'a thousand two hundred sixty days' or 'three years and six months' you'll find that time period, 42 months is mentioned quite a few times through the Bible. Both Luke and James refer back to the time of Elijah (Elias) for a 42 month period and we know Elias will be one of the two witnesses that will come in the end days (Revelations 11:3). The Book of Daniel 12:11 refers to the time period as being 'a thousand two hundred ninety days' or 43 months. Some where in the Bible Jesus says for the elect He will shorten the time period.
I'm not quite sure right now. Maybe someone else will be able to say whether God said not to build another temple.
Mike
I was reaching as far back to the OT, when God became irritated with the sacrifices being made and commanded His people to not make anymore sacrifices. Also, (I can't rememeber where I read it, but I am sure you can help me with that) -another reason why I found what you were you guys were talking about on the other thread alarming; about the people already starting their animal sacrifice rituals. -anyways, God specifically said (if I recall right) that when the tabernacle or temple was destroyed, that they not rebuild it.
I do consider other things in the NT but all in all I would think that God made a specific request when He commanded, Do not rebuild.
Let me see if I can do a quick search for what I am looking for.
Hi Sandra, I don't remember seeing in the Bible where God specifically said not to rebuild the temple, but if you find it I'd be interested. Yeah there's no blood sacrifice needed anymore like they plan on doing if they get the third temple built because Jesus was the Sacrificial Lamb.
hahah, I was just doing a google search and I clicked on one of my own hubs. how funny. can't believe I made it to the first page. lol.
