Help with transferring domains?

   Technical question. I'm currently transferring a domain from godaddy to bluehost. Have completed transfer through bluehost but godaddy is saying because I changed some of my WHOIS information they are going to transfer block me for 60 days. From what I can find online it's illegal for them to hold my domain.
   
   I've tried emailing them twice in the last few days with no response (although their site promises response time of 3-5 hours.)
   
   Any advice or anyone with similar experience? I'd really rather not wait 60 days...

   Why in the world you need to transfer the domain? Add it as add-on to your bluehost account, change DNS settings on godaddy - and enjoy
   
   And sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, never been in such a situation...

      I bought the domain through blogger and from what I can see of bluehost I need to change it to them to allow hosting. I want to change my site from blogger to wordpress.

   and not illegal, since you changed whois info - there are protocols in place to keep some random hacker from getting into your account, changing registration and whois to their own and then transferring to themselves.

   So you have only one domain? That will do it. Then there is really no other way - unless you want to buy another domain - don't bluehost give you one for free when you open an account?
   
   Oh, and why bluehost? I've been with them for quite some time, and left like a year ago. Their performance is laughable nowadays, and their market is sites without traffic. As soon as you start getting any noticeable traffic to your sites, they limit your CPU time, and your sites become extremely slow. Do yourself a favor, stay away from them...

      I already have another site hosted with BH so I was going to use the same account since it is cheaper.

         Ah, ok, then my first advice holds. It is pretty normal to have site registered at one registrar and host it at some other company. In fact it is considered the right way of doing it. So just cancel your domain transfer and go with add-on and DNS change.
         
         And be ready to hop out of BH as soon as you start getting traffic. Check out CPU throttling in your CP, they may be limiting you already.

            I'm already getting reasonable traffic to it (or at least traffic whether or not I promote it).
            
            Would it be better to cancel the transfer and then just go ahead and host it somewhere like hostgator? What site would you recommend as a reasonable host?
            
            My brain hurts! I'm very much the "click the buttons and if it works I've done it right" kind of person. Too many clicks with "error" at the end tonight. Time to goto bed methinks!

               Yep, this is exactly what I am talking about. Hostgator is a good choice IMO.

               Are you locked into Bluehost?  I've heard some people having really bad experiences with them. 
               
               I'm with Hostgator and their support is really good - you do it all via chat.  They even transferred all my site content for me when I was being too blonde to work it out (not that I am blonde, but..)
               
               I have one main site and all my other sites are set up as add-on domains.

   I have no advice for you other than to say if you can't reach GoDaddy via email, call them. They have 24x7 phone support and the folks are always helpful and knowledgeable.

      I live in Australia so was worried that it may be expensive - I couldn't find country specific numbers.

      Network solution hosting is costly. Compare their shared hosting packages with hostgator, dreamhost and bluehost and see the difference.
      
      I prefer dreamhost only when there is need for running python/ruby on rails scripts. I also have account with hostgator and no complaints about them.
