amazon orders

   My brother told me that he clicked on one of Amazon ads and ordered the book.  But it doesn't show up on my amazon affiliates page as a sale or even a click through.  Am I not properly connected or is there a lag time of more than a day when a sale is registered?  Anyone else have this problem?

   I suggest talking to Amazon. I have never had a problem, but then, I don't know who ordered what.

   Amazon and eBay capsules are subject to the same 60-40 impression sharing split as AdSense.   This means that there is a 40% chance that any given click would not be tracked to your amazon associates account.  Generally Amazon sales show up by the next day.  Because many eBay sales are auction based, the time lag will vary significantly.

   Is that share automatically reflected in the amazon report? Meaning, if it says 10 sales, it's 60% of that we'd get paid for? Or would that already be a 60% share?

   The impressions are shared -- meaning 40% of the time the links will have the HubPages amazon tracking code in them and 60% of the time the links will have yours.  If the click happens during your share you get 100% of the revenue from amazon and the entire sale and revenue will be reflected in your amazon report.
   
   If you see 10 sales in your report, that means you probably made 6 or 7 sales for us (thanks!).  Of course there is some randomness involved, so the split won't always be precisely on the boundary (especially for small numbers).

   And just for clarification.. we only get a referral payment if they buy the actual product they clicked on in the hub, right?
   
   Meaning, if they clicked on a DVD, went to Amazon and then bought a different DVD instead, we don't get a share of that, right?

      I'm pretty sure you get credit for whatever they may buy. I have had a few sales and some of them were unrelated to what I have I my hubs, yet I still get credit.
      
      I think the problem with Amazon is they only give you a short time window, i.e their cookie only lasts one day I think. So if someone clicks your ad, goes to Amazon and then goes back a few weeks later and buys it, you do not get the credit. I have been trying to work it out exactly, but it's a bit obscure. I am sure Paul will tell you if I'm wrong

         I have experienced the same, people buying things that I didn't link to.
         
         Not sure how long it takes for the cookie to expire, but it is shorter now than it used to be. Though if a person adds it to their cart and comes back later I think the sale is still credited to the referrer.
         
         At least that's what I've heard.
