I didn't know we couldn't discuss our hubs on the forum, promote the topic, or post the link. I was kindly, then seriously told later after I did so, so for those of you whom have helped, thanks! Whether here or on facebook.com, I wish there was a better way to really show what rules really apply to the forum because 1) I don't see it as I'm reading topics and posts (though I saw it after previewing a response,) and I don't know about anybody else, but after I --hub-- a topic, I get excited about both the topic and my very own hub that I go to the forum and refer to such to either open a discussion on it, or legitimize my point-of-view on the topic. My take, anyway!

When you go to make any sort of post in the forums, to the left of the text box where you enter/type your post is a shaded box that reads:

The rules are right on the screen, as well as a link to the FAQ.  Whether people don't notice them due to a lack of observance or just laziness at having to click through a link to read them is open to debate.

I was only trying to help.  If my post is the one you are referring too.

I had no intent on criticizing you.  I am sorry if you were offended.

I wrote a Hub on Hubpages Etiquette which might help you.

As Relache says, there's a shaded box right next to where you write your post, with bolded text and everything - it's not our problem if you didn't read it.

Yes, you can share your work on facebook, myspace and other venues of the internet.  At the bottom of your Hub's you will find the word 'share', click on that, provided you belong to these you can share all of them.

I have a few friends on my facebook that look forward to my new posts.

    Good luck with your writing!

everytime you reply there is a grey box  over there   <-------  that lists the forum rules.  http://hubpages.com/help/forum_rules

generally you can find any topic being discussed in some thread or start a thread without a link to your hub. I've seen some threads started like that though that come across as promoting instead of inviting discussion.

Of course it's natural to get excited when you post a new hub and of course the goal of writing is to share it with others.
In addition to the "share" button to let your FB and Twitter, etc. followers know of your new hub, don't forget that your HB followers are alerted when you write a new hub, also.
Depending on how they have their settings, they may get a notice every time you (or others they follow) post a hub. Or they may get a once-a-day digest.

Other than that, the forums are for discussion. If you legitimately post a topic and involve others and get them excited/interested in what you have to say, it is likely that some will go to your profile to check out "who IS this fabulous hubber?" and read some of your hubs....

It's not a directly commercial venture, but it's a pretty cool community!
